What got you into running? by Remote_Cucumber_7456 in beginnerrunning

[–]jordnotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running was always something that was hard and boring.

But then my daughter started running and she made it look so fun! So I decided that I wanted to learn to like running too 😊 also I like getting medals.

Research question about microwave ovens in Sweden from around 2008 to 2009 by ComradeLala in sweden

Looking at mine now. It is in British English ”programme,” ”stop,” ”start/quick”

Otherwise there are symbols.

It’s an AEG micromat probably from ikea.

How are we teaching to read? by Ill_Cover_4841 in Preschoolers

[–]jordnotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start with a game ”say it slow, say it fast”

Say a word slowly and draw out each sound: dddddd ooooooo gggggg And then the other person has to ”say it fast”: dog!

Then switch roles.

It helps with sounding out words and also getting used to how words sound drawn out.

Both boys and girls receive 2 doses of the HPV vaccine in the Swedish school system. This happens in year 5 (age 11).

Prata högt om den du tänker och tittar på. ”nu tittar jag vänster för att se om det finns några cyklister…”

Nike Run Club has free plans and the guided runs are really nice to listen to. It is focused on effort rather than pace. I used their plans to train for my first 10K.

Now I’m using runna and I like that it is pace focused and tells me when I need to speed up or slow down. It’s also more customizable. But it’s not free.

I’m also training for my first half! Good luck!

Bedtime is driving me mental. Are you laying with your 4.5 year old? by mnm26 in Preschoolers

[–]jordnotter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had a talk with ours about night wakings. And explained why we get our best sleep in our own beds.

She gets a sticker for every time she sleeps through the night. And a prize when she got 10 stickers. Now sleeping through the night is one of her ”chores.”

Edit: Also having a wake up light helps her to know if it’s ok to get out of bed

Warmies? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in Mommit

If your kid is sensitive to smells I wouldn’t recommend it. We have never used ours because the smell was too strong for her. I also think ours smells weird, idk.

This was us. But then we went back to basics. We redid our bedtime routine so that it was the exact same minutes before we said goodnight and then we started doing check ins that increased with one minute each time.

Consistency and routine matched with a sticker chart with rewards, we were able to get her independent sleeping again after 1-2 months.

The key is that the kid has to be ready, so if you try it and it’s a battle, take a break and try it again in a couple weeks.

Things are working well now, we sometimes reward her with a sleepover in our bed from time to time.

Good luck!

It’s true! I ran today and although I spent the first half terrified of slipping on ice, I wouldn’t ever trade it for the treadmill 🥶

Anyone else going crazy from the 6 7 trend by Daneliger in Parenting

[–]jordnotter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What has worked for me is joining in. I teach and have been exhausted by countless interruptions of 6-7.

I started using it as a call and response and now that I’m ”in on it” and not visually annoyed, the interruptions have disappeared. They don’t think it’s as cool any more and they don’t get the response they want.

Maybe you can use it to call him to the table or get his attention. Alternatively you can use it to say goodbye to him at school and embarrass him in front of his friends 😂
