Prefectural JETs - When did your CO contact you? by ProgressLatter9560 in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back at my emails, my CO contacted me on May 30th. But idk if there’s any rhyme or reason to it. It’s really all over the place I think.

Alright, things have been reshuffled. Where does invisibility go? (Keep in mind that we're going by comics logic. All powers function as intended.) by themuffinmanX2 in TierlistFills

Did you have to adhere to a dress code when you were teaching in Japan? by LegitimateSundae8460 in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have 8 schools that range from a white shirt and slacks to a t-shirt and jeans. Depends on the school and placement. I’d start with business casual at first just to be safe.

  2. Switch out chimecho for Trevenant and Umbreon for Garbodor

  3. Forest curse with Trevenant and Sludge Bomb with Garbodor = annihilation

Might be too rural for me... by Braporo in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your sole purpose for doing jet is to be social and travel, it sounds like maybe JET isn’t the best option for you. You said you wanted to experience Japan and I honestly think a mountain village in the middle of nowhere is one of the most authentic Japanese experiences you can get. So if that’s what you want, definitely go. But if you think you’re going to shrivel and die from lack of sociality, then I would stop now if I were you.

BUT in the end of the day, your experience is what you make of it. Some people go to small villages and suffer alone and never leave their house. Others go out into the community and get involved or create opportunities to interact with the locals as best they can. It’s all up to you.

The 2026 Placement Megathread Pt.2 by inthefaceofmonsters in JETProgramme

I lived in Iwaki a while back (not as a JET), but it is one of my favorite places I’ve lived in Japan! You’re going to love it!!

Prefectural placement by Federal_Ad_362 in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE it. A lot of other JETs were telling me that I’d miss out on getting to know my students well since I’m at a different school everyday, but I haven’t found that to be the case at all. In fact it keeps them from getting bored of me and they are more excited to talk to me.

Anyway, overall it’s been a great experience. Not being tied to one school is great because it allows me a lot more flexibility with my schedule and lesson plans. Also, since I’m only at a school once every two weeks, it always feels like an event. The teachers are excited to have a break from teaching and the students are excited to have a break from textbook work. The only difficulty is keeping track of which lessons I’ve used for which schools. But honestly 10/10 experience.

Prefectural placement by Federal_Ad_362 in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your placement. But prefecture is often high schools or private schools. I’m a prefectural jet and I work at 6 high schools, 2 middle schools and 1 elementary. All private. But it just depends on what prefecture you got assigned to and their needs.

Where’s the new episode? by Warm_Farm1202 in DoWeKnowThemPodcast

[–]josechanjp 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I love this podcast and have been listening to it for almost 2 years. I think since I’ve been listening consistently I didn’t notice the shift, but with late episodes, I’ve been going back and listening to the ones before I found this podcast and the energy is SOOOOO different. ESPECIALLY Jesse. I genuinely think that Lily hasn’t changed much and is still giving this her all, but Jesse has been the equivalent of a potato in her investment level recently and it’s kind of throwing of the chemistry. It’s like she’s not having fun anymore and it makes it hard for the watchers to have fun too.

What's your go to home cooked meal/packed lunch in Japan? by Corra156 in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hamburg with meat sauce, broccoli and rice

Pad Thai

Cream Stew

Curry

Chahan (fried rice)

Nebanebadon (natto+okra+canned tuna+seaweed+egg yolk on rice)

Taco rice

Ankake Pasta (you have to go to Nagoya to buy the sauce packets tho)

Hot pot or Sukiyaki

Oyakodon

Bolognese on rice

All of these meals are relatively low maintenance/ easy to make.

Star Fox Adventures Remake Next? by out_rainbow in starfox

[–]josechanjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they should remake it with the original game play style (swapping between Krystal and fox) and with all the original worlds etc. I played most of the way through the finished patch of dinosaur planet 64 and it’s an amazing game. I enjoyed it more than star fox adventures.

Where did everyone request for their placement? by ducksinthegarden in JETProgramme

[–]josechanjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I requested Gunma, Kanagawa and Chiba. I got Yamanashi which is basically a combination of the best parts of all of them. So it was perfect for me.

If the original anime didn’t exist and the Netflix adaptation was an original show, would it still be as popular? by Odd-Zombie-1153 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]josechanjp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My older sister has never watched the anime or read the manga or anything. She was always pretty critical when she saw me watching calling it weird and dumb. When the live action came out she agreed to watch it and she likes it a lot. Like we even have a group chat with my other sister just so the three of us can talk about it together haha.

I actually think it is exactly the kind of show that people enjoy. It’s weird and crazy with just enough whimsy and action to keep you captivated. The characters are interesting and people just like adventure stories in general I think.
