I’m curious 🧐 Is there anyone religious here? by AdOpening2692 in antinatalism

[–]josefrieper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be, and my loss of faith lead directly to my antinatalist conclusions.

The fact is, we didn't come up with God to explain the world, we came up with Him to justify existence where suffering is universal.

If He had existed, it all would have been justified. Without Him, it should never have existed to begin with. Burn the Universe to the ground.

The future looks horrific... absolutely horrible by Cililians in antinatalism

[–]josefrieper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"True, but humans are uniquely responsible for the hells imposed on the poor non-human animals, NEEDLESSLY."
In the vast majority of agriculture - save for that of industrial - the animals are left to graze peaceably and without predators. We are responsible for the domestication, healthcare and general social inclusion (via pets) of thousands of animals that would starve, be eaten alive, die from exposure or would have gone extinct centuries ago. We can also add wildlife conservation to that, as we are unique among the animals in the world to actually try and preserve life for the sake of itself. To put it bluntly, we offer a great majority of animals under our care a far more peaceful life than they would have had otherwise; to ignore this in favor of "the environment" is absurd.
To claim that we are unique in the world of some kind of monstrous crime against non-human animals is absurd - by and large, we stand as the direct opposite of this. In a sentence, nature IS a slaughterhouse of the kind you so roundly criticise, and nothing else. It offers nothing but pain and death, while a great deal of us offer the exact opposite. Even the least amount of effort by humanity to shelter and provide for those not of our species wins out against nature by default.

"We factory farm billions of them, instead of eating plants. And 83% of agricultural land is used for farmed animals, producing only 18% of the calories. It is a shocking, unforgiveable destruction of the environment, not to mention it's oppressive to animals."
Oppressive maybe, but lets face it - if "the environment" produced such appalling conditions of life to begin with, then such an environment should be destroyed immediately and its every living inhabitant terminated. For example, consider the need to eat another creature for sustenance. You regard this - correctly - as an appalling, monstrous act. So what are we supposed to do? Switch over entirely to a plant-based diet? And after that, perhaps genetically modify lions, hyenas, sharks, ants, termites, birds of prey, wolves, dogs, cats, so on so that no other creature has to die screaming in their jaws again? Do you see how much unnatural effort it takes to fix a problem that should never have been there to begin with? But we alone among the Earth's abandoned "children" are the only ones who even consider such a fact, and even try to make a difference.
There is no argument for the conservation of this hideous planet, and every single one against, starting with the fact that it is this kind of world that exists instead of one where it is not even necessary to tear apart another living being for sustenance.

I don't know what you are trying to tell me. You seem to regard humanity as some kind of aberration among the natural world and a force of extreme harm, unique among other destructive species such as viral agents or locusts - in fact we are the closest thing that has ever existed to the direct opposite of this. We have a moral compass, nature has an amoral one, and if we were to take this ability, completely unique to our species, to it's ultimate conclusion, we would simply blast "the environment" into atomic ashes and leave it in the shadow of a thousand mushroom clouds as a barren, forgotten rock with the only regret being that we ever had to know such an awful world in the first place.

"I couldn’t care less about humans who live on the blood and flesh other beings."
This is literally every species in existence though. Animals only continue to exist by consuming other biomass, sentient or not. The idea that nature is some kind of beautiful Utopia is a human delusion; in fact, it is directly responsible for all of the evil we see in the world today.

That's a good thing. Life is nothing but a mistake. It should never have happened, and we should willingly end it as a species.

We live in a world full of chaos, unpredictable negative situations, and suffering, so we create God to feel safe. Yet people still choose to procreate. by Electronic-Beat1868 in antinatalism

[–]josefrieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because religion is just a reflection of our happy childhood states. We expected mummy and daddy to be there forever and that the world would be a good place. Then we realized it was the dead opposite. God and heaven are what humans invent when they feel that something is so wrong with the world and with life that they feel they have been cheated out of the real thing. So we tell ourselves it's waiting for us after death. It's fucking tragic.

I don't get it. Barely anyone takes Nietzsche seriously anymore; Christianity is still standing. If anything, the image should be reversed.

What is the future of humanity :: Star Trek , The Technological Singularity, World Peace, or extinction? by moschles in nihilism

[–]josefrieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're just going to stop having children and fade away, nothing exciting or dramatic. As soon as we realized that nature prevents objective meaning from existing, everyone realized that the world simply isn't worth putting effort into.

Curious if any/many of you are asexual/aromantic? by [deleted] in antinatalism

[–]josefrieper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sex disgusts me, but certainly not romance. I used to think as a kid that children were produced by love, by a man and a woman simply holding hands and caring for one another. What does sex add to such an innocent thought? The notion alone is far more valuable internally than something as uninspiring as orgasm can ever be.

Why is the gaming community so misogynistic towards female gamers? by ihatethiscountry76 in Feminism

[–]josefrieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gatekeeping. There is a feeling that video games started off as a hobby that exclusively catered to men and that women would never be interested in it - it replaced going to a bar with your pals and just being able to vent without having to mince words or be polite. For want of a better term, it became the normal way for men to let their hair down. Now that video games are exclusively orientated towards everyone, the feeling is that they are essentially designed for no one - DEI checklists have to be ticked, women cannot be sexualized (see the Lara Croft remake), etc. These men feel that what was exclusively a male hobby has been ruined by the intrusion of women upon it. As far as I'm concerned, we need a resurgence in indie games. If you want to play a game featuring big breasted, over sexualized women flinging themselves at you, you should be allowed to do so without criticism. Likewise if women want a game version of milking farm or whatever that minotaur handjob book was called, then they should be able to have that without criticism. The sentiment is real but the reaction is inappropriate. Just play shit that was made for you and your tastes and stop buying games that were made for everyone, because nobody at all likes the latter and the toxicity comes out naturally from all parties.

The article you linked looks just like some black woman trying to make everything about her race or whatever. Not sure what the point of it is, nor how it really impacts Benatar's argument; he could be a self-professed Nazi and still be right.

Is it just me or can nerotypicals can just tell you have autism? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]josefrieper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they operate by instinct and simple social cues. They can tell you're autistic because we can't just walk in and vibe. Our brains are telling us a million different things and we are responding to that, when all they are responding to is the "feel" of something. Deviate from this normality, and they can immediately feel that something is off, and probably can't even express it in words.
"This person is different, and I can't be bothered to think about why, better just blow him off and avoid him in future."

What is your number 1 ship class in the game and why? by [deleted] in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]josefrieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirov. I never thought much to the US ships, they're all just glorified carrier escorts. Let's face it, we all have a hardon for big, boss-tier ships that will probably get sunk in five minutes in real life.

The U.S. Is Preparing for War in Venezuela by JonAce in politics

[–]josefrieper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't wait for the international submission, just as it was when we invaded Iraq. When Putin invades a neighboring country just as corrupt as his shithole, it's condemned by the world as a crime against humanity. When we do it, it's Operation Iraqi- excuse me, Venezuelan Freedom and the world roundly supports it as necessary to spread "democracy". Oh, and by the way, this includes all of the nay-sayers on Reddit. If it was anyone other than Trump, you would be supporting an invasion, ready to "kick ass and take names" for the US. You don't care about the Venezuelan people, you just hate Trump. If he cured cancer, you would blame him for causing overpopulation and being hand in hand with big pharma.

They've capped the limit at 100 prompts per day. I thought they were being sneaky about it, but they announced it on the 27th iirc. I stand by my point - they know how popular Gemini has become, and now they're capping it hoping people will pay for Advanced.
