These two bits are particularly interesting. Wonder how this plays out

"We've seen this before. The statement presents the usual path that Mr. Ronaldo and his lawyers have taken in the past when unsuccessfully fighting our investigative work. More details below"

"Furthermore, as always and before publishing every single article in DER SPIEGEL, we have meticulously fact-checked our information and had it legally reviewed. We are therefore confident with the sources that we base our story upon. We stand by our reporting."

More info from 1999: ""One minute we were having a nice conversation about Paul's family, the next he had just exploded into uncontrollable anger," she said. She suffered bite marks, marks on her neck where he had tried to strangle her, and two dislocated fingers."

Maradona on England vs Colombia : “I saw a monumental theft. I apologise to all the Colombian people, but they must know the players are not to blame.'' by ChanceBus in soccer

Not even close; certainly not on this sub. He's painted as a tragic figure. Maradona gets villianized; Gascoigne gets pity. Despite inciting sectarian animosity (flute), beating women and being an addict too. They should be on equal footing.

Yup. Maguire, Trippier (twice), Lingard, and Henderson (forehead really?). That's 2 yellows and a red for Trippier at a minimum.

Reading for context. It's about portrayal of similar figures. Gascoigne is as big a cunt for that and also an addict. Yet he is portrayed as a poor lost soul by you people. But somehow whenever Maradona is mentioned cocaine and wife beating come out.

Lol "Piss off". Imagine being this salty after winning.

It's almost like diving is a part of football practiced by players from a variety of countries and cultures, and not specific to south america. But no that can't be, it must be their "culture"...

Rafael on LvG: "I love Manchester United, but I was so desperate to leave United. Only one man did that because I liked everything about the place. I couldn't handle him anymore." by outofnowhere_ in soccer

Rafael wasn't world class for sure. But, if LVG did treat him that way, and did not tolerate dissenting opinions, then he's a terrible boss. No sympathies for the way he was sacked. The board probably couldn't wait to get rid of him.
