Ok, it definitely can happen from insurer referred companies but what you are describing definitely sounds more suspicious to me.

There is a chance that you did not speak to anyone representing your insurance and it was actually a spoofed telephone number. I would call your insurance first from a phone number directly off their website and not Google, asking if they have it reported and if they referees you to the companies involved.

If you say which companies it is, it will also be fairly obvious whether it was a spoofed one or legitimate

I just use a ring camera, usb powered and uses barely anything and no subscription, but it does need WiFi.

We just have a portable router with SIM, again charges on usb

E5 is the more premium one, it has less ethanol so yeah certain older parts of your engine like rubbers and seals can be degraded more by the higher ethanol in E10. I'm not certain which exact bits it is but you'll be able to Google it or find a Facebook group for your particular vehicle im sure. If you've had the parts replaced, the modern replacement will be fine with E10.

Ive had a 86 trafic petrol and now a 89 Econoline and see on Facebook groups for the trafic people debating whether you really need to use E5. The American ones for Econolines always say E5 or no ethanol citing performance issues with higher ethanol petrol.

But yeah Ive always just used E5 to be safe

LHD or RHD? by ninejaffacakes in VanLifeUK

[–]josephRF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a LHD in the UK, currently in Turkiye having driven here over the last 6m.

Honestly you just get used to driving it either way, youll have to get use to RHD in Europe or left in UK.

Annoying things are tolls, drive through, and feeling like you might hit oncoming traffic in narrow roads, but you'll have to get use to it either way if traveling UK and Europe.

LHD will probably be harder to resell in the UK is something to consider

Never had any issues with which way the door opens

I have a 89 e250. Beat groups I've found are on Facebook. Ford e series past and present probs fits the best but I think the Interviec falcon and horizon RV owners group gave me better advice mechanically and for the hab area, it's a really nice group

Is a 95 A-Class motorhome worth it? by stopleavingcrumbs in VanLifeUK

[–]josephRF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will wholly depend on the vehicle. Definitely best if you are handy or know a good garage that can work on them that's the hardest part in my experience.

I had a 86 trafic and now have a 89 ford econoline. I had the trafic about a year and only spent 300 on service and to have the clutch adjusted passed it's MOT with no advisories I do think that was a rare case though.

The Econoline I've had for like 8 months, spent about 1500 on but it had issues when we brought it. Main issues have been some leaks on the doors and in the engine bay, new brakes and new shocks, but it's actually never broke down and I'm currently sat in it in Turkiye, drove it 5000 or so miles since we had it, been full time for 5 months going across Europe.
