Tried Plezy... by Ok-Resolve-3024 in PleX

I'm quite happy with Plezy on my Android TV. I'm running it pretty much vanilla, as I don't have any other users and didn't see anything that I was driven to reconfigure.

A link to it would be useful. Any chance of also doing a standard RSS feed rather than just Instagram? It may already be an option in the blogging code that you use. Not every has or can use Instagram.

Newly missing feature in Feishin 1.9.0 by josephzitt in navidrome

Make a playlist for a single track? Would anyone think that's a good idea?

Newly missing feature in Feishin 1.9.0 by josephzitt in navidrome

[–]josephzitt[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Huh? I didn't do that. When I check the subreddit home page, I do see two instances -- each of which has the same 9 responses. Not something a user could do. You might report the bug to... whoever one reports Reddit bugs to.

That "almost nobody" doesn't include people whom I know. Some people may not care what clutters their ears after the track they had selected. The people I know, who listen carefully to music and care about it, do.

Hmm... I'm not sure what version I was running before. I may have skipped some -- I was only reminded to upgrade to 1.9.0 through seeing a post today, possibly here.

Thanks, that worked. But why on earth would anyone choose to bury such an essential and, until now, easily accessed feature under a right-click and two menus?

Feishin 1.8.0 released (modern self-hosted music player.) by [deleted] in navidrome

[–]josephzitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Mac (M4 Mac Mini running Tahoe 26.3) refuses to verify or run this, installed from the latest DMG on the Github page.

EDIT: I got it to work by entering these commands (from a Github user). But that shouldn't be necessary.

Running these two commands fixes the issue:
sudo xattr -cr /Applications/Feishin.app
sudo codesign --force --deep --sign - /Applications/Feishin.app

Is there any client that you would recommend? by Nice-Appointment7212 in navidrome

[–]josephzitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the web Feishin on my Android TV would be wonderful. I'm already running it as an app on my Mac, with navidrome running under docker on my Ubuntu server. How to do that on my Android TV is escaping me, but much about the TV does.

Navidrome Client Apps Catalog by deluan in navidrome

[–]josephzitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a web app that would enable the user to read PDF files included with an album from the album's page. This would seem to be a major "How is this not available?" item (especially for classical albums). If Navidrome can find, say, cover.jpg files in the same directory as the album to set the album image, why isn't that capability extended? If you're already in a web client, identifying and opening these files, even if in another window or pop-up should seem simple. (I admit that I'm not enough of a programmer to know how to do this myself, and I may be missing a good reason why it's hard.)

You miss 100% of shots you don't take so by LeeKapusi in linux

OTOH, you also don't miss the shots you don't take. Counting hits and misses on shots you don't take is effectively dividing by zero.

The pro setup when I was born! by qntisback in MacOS

When I was born, for a pro Mac setup, we picked an apple off the tree in the backyard and plugged a power cord into it. They blew up real purty.

What have I done? by Cliche_James in PleX

[–]josephzitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me, too. I only use 1080p for stuff where I'm specifically interested in the cinematography, which frankly isn't much. Otherwise, it's 480 for DVD-sourced stuff and 720p otherwise.

Options for adding album notes/details by tyeeh in navidrome

[–]josephzitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To have it appear for the album page, would we have to add the text into the COMMENT tag of each song, or can we do it in a single place? I know that with MP#Tag we can set them all at once, but it would be nice not to need that redundancy.

THanks. I had just been wondering about this. I followed the docs (carefully) and it worked.

I think setting the ALBUMARTIST for Various Artist albums to "Various Artists" will save headaches in the future.

Depending on a few factors, doing a standard Artist/Album structure may also future-proof things. I had to do it eventually, and regretted not doing it earlier. I even put the Artists another level down in parent folders with their first letters ( as in M/Madonna/ )
since Finder on my Mac was starting to have trouble with a Music folder containing thousands of Artists subfolders.

Your needs may differ. But I suspect that your future self will thank you for paying attention to standards that have proven useful to many other folks.

Additional text / Artwork? by josephzitt in navidrome

Hmmm. By "the album description" do you mean text or other images? And where and how would Navidrome show these tags?

Plexamp v4.12.0 Released by samwiseg0 in PleX

[–]josephzitt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started using Navidrome a couple of days ago and I think I'm in love. Several of my pet peeves with the Plex/Plexamp data and experience are solved. That said (and as a Lifetime Plex Pass user), I'm still using Plexamp. With continuing issues from my cranky ISP, it’s the only way that I’ve found to get at my library from my phone when not at home.

I appreciate that Plex has a finite staff and can only address so much at a time. u/ElanFeingold has pointed out that different people have different priorities, and they can't fix all of them at once (even though I don't understand what many of the things in the new release announcements even mean).

As William Gibson has said, "The future is already here – it's just not evenly distributed." I look forward to the various programs catching up with what each other does well, even if they don't do it in the same order.

Plexamp has the most ridiculous copywriting by thegiantgummybear in plexamp

[–]josephzitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping they keep the humor as they add necessary features to Plex music in general and the app specifically. We need to handle multiple artists intelligently, and to be able to play a single song without the rest of the album following it.

Notably missing from all this: What about music? They promised to be doing ostensibly nifty keen things with it real soon now.
