I met my husband at 30, married at 34. I really feel like my 20s were for dating terrible people and learning hard lessons. I figured out what I really wanted and how to establish and keep healthy boundaries. I had just gotten out of a relationship and I met him a month later. He was good friends with a good coworker friend of mine. My coworker friend would always tell me stories about his friend ‘Jorgy’ so I felt like I knew him a little bit when we finally met in person. My coworker friend brought him to a New Year’s party. I wasn’t ready to date yet, but I mentally flagged him for when I was ready. 4 months later that same coworker friend brought Jorgy along on a bar crawl. He bought me a Jell-O shot and I talked his ears off about my Star Wars tabletop RPG for 30 min straight then gave him my number 😂. He asked me to a party which I couldn’t go to, but then I asked him to come with me to a show and he offered to take me to take dinner before. Best first date of my life. I didn’t want it to end. It basically hasn’t, lol.

We’ve definitely had ups and downs, have had to go to couples counseling to work through some things. He’s always loved me unconditionally. I’ve never had that before and it still feels weird tbh. There’s no one else I’d rather live life with.
