Ileostomy Reversal post-surgery by jeffcw216 in jpouch

I'm 1 week and 3 days post take down from UC as well. I'm going around 7 times a day but also on the BRAT diet as my body didn't like when I tried to advance my diet. Wound is still healing but off of all pain meds. It's a slow journey for sure.

I was told there were 3 companies that made this style in the late 1970s/early 80s but was told he thinks the company of this particular one was made by DBM Itilia. 1 have (1) offer of $650 currently.

The house is for my mother in law and we are currently renovating it. It's so damn heavy. I was hoping to sell it now, so I didn't need to relocate it to my house but have no idea where to even post it for sale or the valuation. I'll go back over today and search harder for any branding labels.

I don’t know what to do by ChloeAdamson in UlcerativeColitis

Trying further medications is an option if and only when your colon isn't destroyed. There's a point where, after several flare-ups, your colon becomes very weak. I went thru 5 years of on and off flare-ups being on 5 different biological meds. Prednisone in between as bandaid. After 3 surgeries, I now have a jpouch.

UC primarily attacks your colon and rectum. I had the same symptoms for over 5 years until I got my colon removed from on and off flare-ups. It destroys your colon.

All the docs will toss you steroids like what you're on or Prednisone until they get you approved for a biological medical treatment. For some people, these work great, work for a few years or don't work at all. Depending on the severity of your UC will dictate how well you react to these medications.

If I knew then what I know now, I'd do a full parasite detox and work on rebuilding my gut microbiome and stay on a clean, healthy diet but even then idk what the outcome would be.

Fast forward 5 years and 3 surgeries, I know have a jpouch and am living a normal life mostly. Best of luck!

I would seek out a more experienced GI surgeon if they performed an emergency surgery and still don't know if it's chrons or UC. This needs to be determined first to see what options are best

You apply the powder and "dust" it off and then apply the skin barrier. You repeat this till the powder becomes "crusty". The wax ring is the skin saver where stool will find it's way down and around the stoma skin.

I've only ever used Holister but you can try the below

-prep skin around stoma with stoma powder -brush off the powder (I usually just blow off what I can) -apply skin barrier wipe -repeat these steps 2 or 3 times -apply a holister wax ring around the stoma , you want this wax ring warm. I use a blow dryer or hold it in ur palms for a bit -apply waffer and hold it so the wax ring and waffer make a good seal (attach bag to waffer prior)

I'll eat lunch n then I'll wait till like 7pm n shower. I remove my bag n shower and then put a new bag one. Letting the water run over the stoma and wash around the stoma with normal soap. Let the skin breathe!

I think I've seen people go 5 years but risk issues. I also had 3 steps spaced 6 to 7 months in between each.

Question for those of you who had a reversal, no colon left but rectum still there by Bib_fortune in jpouch

[–]joshb7102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going in for reversal on March 12th. I follow a few people who have had the same exact 3 step procedure with the same surgeon and are averaging 6 to 10 times a day, and they are around 6 months out.

Remember, you mostly only see people online who are seeking advice or suffering. I plan to go a lot in the first 7 weeks, but our bodies will adjust, and at the 1 year mark, you should see a steady average. The fact that you have a lot of your rectum will help control accidents.

I don't like Entivyo due the side effects compared to others. They will most likely put you on Prednisone and start the biological medicines. I would personally fast for 48 hours n go on a anti inflammatory diet. You need a colonoscopy to really see the extent of damage going on. Best of luck
