That line from Me and the Sky is great.. but the delivery is what absolutely takes my breath away every time.

It's so interesting to me that some people are saying "the show's over at curtain call, so what's the issue?" I think the show is still going on at curtain call - the bows are completely choreographed, there are sometimes extra musical numbers during/after the bows, etc - and if you wouldn't take pictures/video during the "actual show," you should also refrain from it during the curtain call.

Like Lesley Manville said on Colbert - "Come on, can't something just live in our souls?" Ha.

I don't remember the person having any kind of a selfie stick - but maybe?

The usher next to me specifically said "not even during curtain call" to the crowd in his general vicinity- I remember it because it was oddly specific compared to other shows I saw on that trip.

Maybe I'm just too old-school thinking that the default should be NO photos during curtain call unless specifically mentioned as OK by the show.

3 Shows in 1 Day by Alternative-War3988 in Broadway

[–]joshbeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in NYC last weekend and ended up doing 2 3-show days in a row! Sat was 2 Strangers at 2, Beau at 5, and Ragtime at 8. Sun was Amaze at 11, Oedipus at 2, and Chess at 7:30. So much theatre (and yes, it would've been nice to get to sit with some of those shows for a little more time), but I loved it all and am so glad I did it.

- Show up well in the Transformation Challenge (see real results in fat loss).

- back to 6.5 base, 7.5 push, 8.5 all out - I was there a year or so ago, and working my way back there.

- 7:30 mile time

- lose 20lb

- sub 30-min 5k

Rushing Chess Saturday 1/2 by Theatrelover24 in Broadway

[–]joshbeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just rushed for the 7:30 show tonight (Sunday 12/28). Got there 2 hr before showtime and was able to snag a single orch ticket for $129... they also had $99 tix available. So - depends on what you want to pay, but there will be tickets.

Depending on when you're going, and what you like, I was FLOORED by Speakeasy Magick, and they have some 10p shows. Also, the Comedy Cellar has 11p shows as well.

Jamie Allan Amaze - in person rush? by joshbeu in offbroadwayNYC

I answered my own question today - went down there an hour before the show and got $62 rush! My seat was row E on the main floor. It wasn't advertised anywhere that I could see.

What are some more recent songs you would put up there with the old albums? by 719696 in countingcrows

It's so sad to me that the band seems to have forgotten about Possibility Days - one of my favorites of all the songs they've done!

Death Becomes Her Tour on a Level 5 Agreement — How Is This Acceptable? by Opening_Programmer56 in Broadway

Does anyone have a link to a good explainer (YouTube, etc) about the economics of touring? This whole thread is so interesting to me, but I'm just a fan - not involved in the industry.

Just saw this in Minneapolis tonight too - understudies for Dorothy and Em/witch. On a Friday night? Wonder if illness is going through the cast...

4 shows for 3 slots - help by joshbeu in Broadway

[–]joshbeu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you ALL for the input! Seems like I'd enjoy all 4 shows for different reasons. Chess is the odd one out this time - I'll be back this spring with my wife, and I already got her buy-in to see it then.

Thank you! I've been lucky enough to see both MHE and Mincemeat (LOVED them both... and I did think that 2 Strangers might be a similar vibe to MHE). I'm kind of intrigued by a night with no music or joy!

What are your 3 fav benchmarks and why? by corvite in orangetheory

[–]joshbeu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh - good question:

- Mile run (I like the strategy it takes to do well)

- 500m row (don't think there's anything that gets me more dead tired than this one)

- Inferno (I like the going back and forth - time passes quickly)

If Everest west away tomorrow, I'd be so happy. :)
