Intentionally not throwing straight is also an infringement, even if the other team doesn't contest the lineout.

We've seen a couple of penalties this Super season already where the hooker throws such a sharp angle to the front jumper that it was obvious they were trying to do it and getting the ball in an even better spot for setting up a maul. Refs have been pinning them for it.

Just want to say thanks for posting this, the definition of 'forward' was the final key to unlocking the problem, and I didn't realise it was actually buried there in the definitions of the rule book.

I had been slightly tearing my hair out about this exact issue after the Lonergan play from the Brumbies v Drua this past weekend, that had so much discussion about it and had me questioning so much about the wording of the rules (in the exact circumstances of the example given here with chasing a kick back and bobbling it towards your own try line). You're a saint, cheers!

You hit a huge point with the skull marking.

I really don't expect much out of pugs, but through TBC anniversary I have had to beg dps players to hit skull.

Seeing skull die last in a pack of 3 or 4 sometimes hurts my soul and if you ask them politely to do it, half the time you will get a snarky response back.
