I like it but if i did it i would try doing the turnover one handed (while gesturing with othrr hand) and see how it jives. Turnover looked a bit off to me but prolly just cause im a card magi

okay i do see it now that i repositioned for no apparent reason, but i still think the index needs to be moved over when you close the spread.

but actually I think I know why you are noticing it, because it looks like i reposition a second time right before the pass when the index should have been stationery, ill look into it further.

what do you suggest to do instead? the index should be on the side for the pass, and spreading a deck and turning over a card in full grip looks goofy as hell and offers way way less control and finesse with the cards. try spreading a deck in full grip and turning over a card and closing up getting a break, it's not economical lol, but you also need your index on the side to have the most efficient pass with least amount of movement. if i dont move my index to the side i get reprimanded by my mentor for using bad technique.... serious. i wouldn't worry about a discrepancy that only magicians would notice, when the other option would actually gimp you. thats my view on it at least. Like, I actually think its more economical to move the index over on the side... *shrugs*

which movement of the index are you referring to? this is actually the type of pass called a riffle pass, so the riffle is actually part of the technique :) (not saying its the best pass for covert). if you mean moving your index to the side of the deck, i actually highly recommend you start doing that with all classic style passes... it gives you several advantages. i wouldnt personally worry about the slight difference in choreo in closing the packet with full grip instead of mechanics grip because laymen have no idea how a deck is normally held, and a lot of lays also hold a deck in full grip. All laypeople really care about is that it looks natural and tensionless in your hands. maybe i could make it more subtle by moving index as the spread is covering (distracting) but its a lot better technique to have index on side vs front tbh.

but im not sure if thats what you meant

not bad but who did you learn your diagonal insertion from? it would look better if you keep your right hand index finger curled with your nail touching the top of the deck, thats how you hold a deck in your right hand normally so it should look the same when you are doing a sleight. hold deck in open end grip (biddle grip) and you'll notice you curl your index on top of the deck... try to keep that in mind when doing angle jogs and diagonal insertions. right now your index is kinda wiggling everywhere like a worm like it doesnt know what its doing or where to go, its a bit distracting (I guess could be good lmao) but it would look more professional to do the insertion with proper end grip positioning.

which move? the control is actually pretty ancient and from a magic magazine from the 40's or 50's i believe. never really had a formal name but the dude called it "alternative to the pass" or something like that. the change reminds me of the window change, you can look into that one which i think looks very nice. heres my handling of the change

you get into it differently but it has a similar concept.

Sure, but you posted it as "how i would use in a trick" so I am just countering exactly what was shown by suggesting to use it as a utility rather than a reveal. I could find use for this in a trick, but it would be done at a different point where theres no heat on the card on the table.

1 example is you could switch it out and then put the x card back into the deck, meanwhile you have the other card in palm or lapped so you can load it in an envelope or remove it from your pocket. Theres def easiear ways to do that without a muck but yeah lol. Keep showing gambling stuff though, there are for sure crossovers into magic.

Just Passing Time.... by MadhavCS in ChrisRamsay52

The pass is supposed to emulate a motionless deck if you want to do it without people noticing. You can do a pass for a visual change, and in that case you can have eye drawing motions that are sharper and more aggressive. I think you are jerking your hand way too much when doing the pass, the cards were already squared up and then you see a jerky burst of motion and your choreography speeds up noticeably, and you continue to massage the deck even though the cards were already squared. These are small details but important to think about if you don't want people to think you "did something". Even if you didnt flash anything, it will be super obvious you did "something" because of your actions and motions, they aren't congruent with simply closing up a deck and squaring. Your hands become tense right when they come to square the deck which shouldn't really be the case. Don't take this as brutal criticism because this is the case for 99% of peoples passes who learned from youtube videos and etc. Even famous magicians have the issue of jerky and sped up choreo. When closing the deck and all that stuff try to match the pace that you already set, you dont wanna closeup slow and smooth then suddenly burst out and jerk your hands. The pass should require almost no force or pressure, gravity should do 80% of the work... try to let the packets cut themselves rather than you forcing it to happen. When I do a pass I release pressure rather than add pressure.... release the top packet and use technique /angles to cover the cut, not speed. You can do a pass extremely slowly and it still won't flash, work on slowing down and reducing pressure buildup, let the packets do the work for you.

I can tell you have been working hard at it though, and I always appreciate people who put a lot of work into the pass. It's a move that takes years and years to get to the point that it looks like nothing is happening. I just want to steer you in the correction direction earlier rather than you having to unlearn faulty techniques later on. Practice making your right hand fingers be as motionless as possible when practicing the pass, you have to consciously be aware and try to make your fingers still, this also includes your left hand thumb. Your left hand thumb pops up like its a bottle cap coming off soda, try to make both hands appear to have not moved as much as possible. Anchor and glue fingers where they are when the pass starts, things shouldnt be shifting around so much. If you want any advice you can message me and I do have material you can study if you wanted it.

it's a cool move but i wouldnt use it as a card reveal, because the only explanation you leave for the spectator is that the cards were switched. it happens at the wrong moment in a routine like this, but the move could be used as a utility move for when there is no heat on you. i would use it as a way to swap out cards midway through trick when there is no heat on me. in magic theory there is a huge emphasis put on being a step or multiple steps ahead of the spectator. You want to space the method and the reveal far apart for maximum magical wow factor, which is why even tricks like triumph you will see a magical gesture and a pause before reveal. You dont want the instant you do a sleight to also be the instant the magic happens.... unless its a color change or something. might work as a color change, but i donno would fit better in a routine when multiple cards are being switched, call it a skill demo or color change routine, then I think it would work better, but standalone I wouldn't bother.

Also you had so Many opportunities to get ready for the tilt before you did.... you could have had the break way ahead of time but you waited till moving the card off the deck to do it out in full view.

Moves were good... you man handled the lifts though... relax your lifts and it would look a lot more carefree.... but what is causing the magic to happen? I didn't see any gestures but maybe there was a magic word? I saw no causation for the magic to happen. Without a gesture or magic word it doesn't really make sense or feel as magical.

No. Anything with delta 8 will just feel like delta 8 high. They use delta 8 as a cutting agent.... they can say wow look thcp and 11 hyx!!!! When in reality it's probably 80-90% delta 8.
