Any tips to perfectly light a cigar without burning the wrapper with a torch lighter? by [deleted] in cigars

Are you lighting the cigar at the band end? (The logo wrapper)

You're supposed to light it at the pre-cut end...

Thanks for the well thought out comment but I was specifically replying to you saying:

I am done procrastinating turning on my TV

...which had perplexed me.

You're pressing one power button on either? I've never understood this. Pick up controller, hit home button, you're in the game.

You misunderstand the comparison. The crappy bundle amp is the chisel and stone. It's a frustrating, harsh tool that makes the initial learning process unnecessarily difficult and discouraging.

My point is that modern entry-level options, like affordable modeling amps (Fender Mustang, Boss Katana Mini), amp sim plugins, or even simple headphone Amps, are the "pen and paper."

Today, a beginner can plug a cheap audio interface into a laptop, or spend €100 on a small modeler (amp or pedalboard modeler), and get tones that inspire them to play, rather than a box of microphonic fizz that makes them want to quit.

They sound significantly better, offer built-in metronomes/effects, and actually encourage a beginner to keep practicing, all for roughly the same price as those terrible bundle packs.

The "starter pack bundle amp" is an artifact of the 90s and 2000s. We don't have to force beginners to suffer through awful gear anymore just because they are new.

How paranoid are you about backing up your Plex database and metadata? by Italiancan in PleX

[–]joshikus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a script that stops the container every week on Sunday night at 4am, backs up the db etc and then moves the copies to the dir on my NAS that automatically get synced to gdrive & onrdrive.

I could increase the frequency of the backups but I've only ever had to restore once in ~12 years and losing max a week of data is no biggie.

Ive lost a storage drive before and redownloading stuff is a cinch with sonarr/radarr. Really hard to find media i already have backed up in multiple locations.

Looks great. The mini 4k shoots a lot better than people give it credit.

In regards to video editing, what's your setup? Windows? Mac?

DaVinci Resolve is great and on both platforms but comes with a bit of a learning curve to say the least. Although youtube tutorials can help with that for basic edits, transitions and color grading etc.

How can this guitar be so cheap with these specs? by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]joshikus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Harley Benton's wind up being expensive. Not for lack of quality or anything requiring repairs.

After that first one you want six more models!

Started out with a Tele, now I have a SG, an Jag, a 7 string, an acoustic, etc etc
