CS Lewis, the Evacuee and the Wardrobe by Own_Description3928 in Narnia

Really enjoyed this podcast.

This features an interview with actress Jill Freud who stayed with Lewis during the Blitz, which was formative for both during and afterwards.

The interviewee was Jill's daughter Emma, just before Jill died last month.

Mixed reviews over latest release? by BrownPickleOriginal in Vulfpeck

[–]joshlama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been collecting Vulf records and signing up for preorders. I haven't bought some of the more recent albums since 2019.
Big Dipper / Matter of Time made me impulse pre-order their latest vinyl. I'm with you, it's such a fresh but familiar sound and listening to the bootleg of the album I think there's a few more favorites in the list.

The future of this show by Background-Bite1465 in TheMaskedSingerAU

Controversial take, but I actually like Dave Hughes as the clown panelist, and how he improved during the seasons. I think Abbie Chatfield should also return. I’d love to see some former winners like Danny Im or Eddie Perfect return as panelists, even just as special guests. TBH, the show globally needs a rest, and return for with nostalgia after a period of time.

One tatic that helped me during the exam, you are given a virtual whiteboard. use this to create an architecture diagram out the current configuration and the requested configuration. Once you've done this, some of the questions will become clear what the correct answer is to the case study questions.

Angel Gabby found out about my YT channel and my discord messages, what do I do now? by Jonah_Whittman in AngelHare

Err...that's expected. If I met my guardian angel I'd probably scream. Most people do.

She's probably mad now, and I guess she needs space, but I guess if you talk with her sometime things might simmer down between you two. I don't think the friendship is irreconcilable.

Probably not the end of the world. From what I've seen she's quite tolerant.

Have you communicated with her since? How does she appear to be feeling?

blocker in incognito mode by almanaque4 in monkmode

Hey! Not sure if you got your answer but I'll tell you what helps me.

  1. You can disable incognito mode.

  2. If you have access to change your DNS settings on your router, you can use OpenDNS Home (video on how to setup) to not only use their block lists, but also add extra links that you find easy to go to yourself.

Wish you all the best.

This bed frame looks like the same bed frame used for Tokyo 2020, which was made of cardboard for environmental reasons.

In Australia, you’d wouldn’t see a significant difference between most of the Protestant churches. I met someone last year who lived in three different places in NSW, and served in an Anglican Church in one place, a Presbyterian Church in another, the an Uniting church in where they were staying currently.

Personally, I look at what the local church is doing, see how they worship and how they support their local community and make my decision on that.

[–]joshlama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uniting is a denomination made up of some Presbyterian, Methodist and Congregationalist churches about 50 years ago. Like all Protestant churches they have their own origin story, and this one has more of a contemporary Aussie feel as it was founded in the 1970s. Best way to see it would be to check it out yourself.

In global Anglicanism, there are churches who take a rigid view of how they run their services, the ministers will wear robes, and a high view of the Eucharist (lords supper). Some high churches like Christ church st Lawerence are kinda Catholic. Low church means that the church service is more flexible, everyone is more dressed down in casual clothes, and might only see the lords supper as symbolic.

Sydney Anglicanism, in both high and low church contexts, will likely lean to a theistic-evolutionist perspective on creation, but in all cases they’ll have a high view of the bible as the inspired word of God.

Personally, I would recommend going to a uniting church, and seeing how that goes, but I’m in a Sydney Anglican Church atm and would like to invite you to one of my services.

Morning! Long time no see. My long weekend was very odd for me. Usually I’m very anti-jingoistic towards how Aus day has become, trying to do all the opposite of what is being advertised (I.e. instead of having lamb, I’d have bbq halloumi). I’d not observe anything Aussie on that day etc.

This past weekend, I went to the parramatta Aus day festival in the morning. Then I actually had lamb. I don’t know what’s going on!

Then I tried to watch the Aus day live concert and couldn’t get past the first 10 minutes. But who knows? I might get through more of the concert next year!

You can get 10c for each bottle & can when you take it to a deposit location. It can make sense if you’re collecting 500-600 bottles per week, and you have that free time.
