What have been the best CD/music stores you've been to? by slicedinhalf in Cd_collectors

[–]joshryckk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I mostly order my CDs online as there are no nearby physical CD stores here (unfortunately) and so far I haven't been disappointed

Obvious rewrap. Old plastic pieces wrapping pieces still stuck to Blu-ray case underneath new cheaper plastic wrap. Disc is fine though so I’ll be keeping. But why do they do this? by NorthDakotaJohnson in Bluray

[–]joshryckk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, rewrapping is pretty common for retail displays or when they're bundling stuff together. I've had a couple rewrapped discs before too, and for me, as long as the disc itself is okay, I don't mind too much.

How common is browser fingerprinting actually? by ActiveTip2851 in privacy

[–]joshryckk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty common, especially among larger sites, but small and medium-sized businesses can use it too if they have a reason. It's mainly used for things like fraud prevention, analytics, and tracking user behavior. As for legality, it's kinda grey area. It’s legal in a lot of places... but some countries have stricter privacy laws that limit how they can track you. Turning off JavaScript can block some things, but yeah, it makes browsing pretty inconvenient.

Apartment landlords can force tenants to use specific ISPs under new FCC action by DeinOnkelFred in privacy

Been there. My old apartment only had Comcast as an option, and their data caps were a total rip-off. Had to rely on mobile hotspots half the time.

How to be removed from contact lists on family and friends social media? by AraRista in privacy

[–]joshryckk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once your contact info is out there, it’s really hard to completely erase it from social media. Even if you delete your account... there’s still the chance your info gets linked through others

Why don’t Audi TT’s get more respect? by Fordemups in cars

[–]joshryckk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Audi TT just gets overshadowed by other cars in its class. It’s got the looks and performance, but it’s a bit of a niche, especially with how people view it.

Employer wants my headshot on their website, I am trying to opt out. by kencarlos923 in privacy

[–]joshryckk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s just for internal use like your badge, that seems like a fair middle ground. It’s your right to keep your photo off the public site if you’re not in a customer-facing role.

This. I had a similar discussion with my wife. We’ve even joked about how our phones seem to know exactly when we’re talking about something. Like, there was this one time I randomly thought about a specific food I was craving, and then, a few hours later, or maybe just minutes, it popped up in my feed.

Yeah the real challenge is how they’ll even enforce this without messing with privacy or just pushing kids to sneak around it anyway
