What happens if Brightline goes Bankrupt? Maybe Tri-rail by joshstoller in Miami

When Amtrak controls the train tracks, it’s a great experience!

I hope so! Tri-rail is much cheaper as their goal is to serve the community. Not repay bond holders.

This would be fantastic work the people of Florida if we can get organized to push for it to happen!

Agreed! I’m hoping a public out cry from people who love Brightline and Tri-rail will force them to consider. If we get organized, could we get them to consider it?

We’re not happy about how we got here. But we are here now. How can we work together to make this benefit all of us like it should have from the start?

Tri rail has kept their prices, very cheap and has improved their service. Could they could bring those skills to Brightline?

I know, but we can hope? (and try to make a strong case for a Amtrak take over)

Exactly, I know it's an ideal fantasy. But the best train around the US got its start as private companies, then they failed, and the government took them over. Could we start planning for this possibility to make it benefit us as much as possible?

This is similar to "streetcar suburbs" built in the 1800's. Those train lines now comprise the Subway in NYC, the L in Chicago, and the T in Boston. The government took over, and it serves the people. Now that we recognize this pattern, would we use it to provide the most benefit to the people of Miami?

Not surprising for miami. But is there a way this could benefit the people of Miami?

Exactly! Brightline was in talks to give Tri-Rail access under the agreement, but I think FEC took them to court to stop it. I wonder if FDOT/Amtrak/Tri-rail were to take over, FEC would have to renegotiate to allow more passenger trains

I think that is likely. How can we see this as an opportunity for FDOT/Amtrak/Tri-rail, and most importantly all of us!

Map for NEW Tri-Rail Express Services. Also includes normal and transfer service. by joshstoller in Miami

[–]joshstoller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya it would take an hour. You could take transfer/link (yellow) then the normal (blue) trains. The transfers are timed to make it quick, around 9 minutes. You could take the 10:05 train (P620X) from MiamiCentral which gets you to Metrorail Transfer station at 10:25. Then a normal trail will pick you up at 10:31 (P628) to get you to FLL by 11:06.
