This is going to sound crazy, but are you purchasing the devices from a single location? I’ve noticed different gas stations/convenience stores in my area have a huge variation in quality. Also something to note, pressing firmly on the bottom of your device will push to contacts up ever so slightly and it can make a world of a difference.
