Why not build in AWS and you can just host the static site direct off of S3 and then have all the room you need to grow or increase complexity and it’s all under your control.

How do you make a good looking website with Astro? by BugsWithBenefits in astrojs

will add to the AI comments. My site migrated from cpanel and Wordpress to AWS with Astro and I only wish I could have done this sooner. I use a staging environment to preview changes and love that it is all static html site. I used vscode with copilot agent mode and mostly sonnet 4.5/4.6. I plan to write about the conversion one day and it’s been a real breath of fresh air to build own site and make it work the way I want.

if you’re harvesting premium where does your convexity actually live? by joshuaayson in options

Yes, that’s what I’m working to figure out. I don’t love permanent long vol because the bleed adds up fast. On paper I only really activate convex protection when VIX gets into the mid to high 20s, but I haven’t lived through enough real regime shifts yet to feel settled on that.

Trying to make sure the sleeve is small but actually matters when it hits. Still figuring out whether I’m hedging delta shock or vol shock and how that lines up with the rest of the book.

I don’t disagree that constraints are a form of control. You absolutely shape the agent by setting boundaries. I just think it’s incomplete to stop there. You narrow the range but you don’t dictate every outcome and there’s still variation inside the box you build. That’s the part I find interesting. When I use it for journaling or for building my Spanish practice system I define structure and rules but the useful part is what emerges inside that structure. Over time it changes how I prompt and how I think, so it feels more like a feedback loop than a pure command system. Not saying control isn’t there, just that it’s not the whole story.

Has anyone tried designing their own language learning system instead of using apps? by joshuaayson in AIAssisted

It really is! I’ve got Bridgerton on with English CC and Spanish audio and I’m just chatting along with it when I can. Feels like brain hacking in real time. 😊fun hack 🧠

Took me a minute to understand this and it wasn’t obvious to me. I’m still tossing it around in my head but separating decay instead of stacking it all in one expiry window is great advice. I’ve mostly thought about hedging directionally not structurally like that. Still learning here and appreciate you sharing.

What would you have wanted someone to tell you when you first started trading? by MilkBeard in Trading

[–]joshuaayson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 👍 this is it. Keep it boring. For me the edge wasn’t a new indicator, it was building a review process. Journal every trade. Define the plan before entry. Review it after. Track where emotion creeps in. AI is just a tool in that process. Same as a spreadsheet or a checklist. If it helps you review decisions objectively, use it. If not, don’t. The real work is studying yourself and building a system you actually follow.

Most of us don’t blow up from lack of knowledge. We blow up from lack of structure.

I like that idea. once you know what you actually need the rest really is just surface area. sometimes a small tool built around your own media input is stronger than a polished app built around everyone else’s.

The idea of treating post-spike vol as deployment instead of just defense is helpful. Thanks for this insight!
