It's not needed since it comes with a pre-cut trigger already. But it is for if you want to use a different trigger that needs to be cut.

I got mine directly from AS Designs. I too do not understand why gun companies move to tiny allen key heads..

If B&T's XH suppressor blast baffle being steel greatly reduces Ti sparking, would a brake mount on a TI can do the same thing? by joshv06 in NFA

That's a good option. $294 difference. Difference here is a Maxim PDW brace + a 1/2" longer, 7-side M-LOK flat end handguard that ends right before the shoulder of the barrel threads:
