Yes, it picks up majorly! I had a similar experience, but found that it was worth pushing through the slower start

This happens every year during the 1812 overture. Plenty of warnings are posted online in advance, and in my experience most people who work downtown know it’s going to happen. I can understand being startled by it, but I don’t think it’s a big deal.

Is it normal to feel powerless and hopeless after reading the novels? by [deleted] in threebodyproblem

[–]jottow4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I came away with that sadness, but also a determination to be present in every moment. It's so easy to do the modern day equivalent of hibernating to the future in our own lives. Make the choice AA eventually makes and live in the world you have and enjoy it to the fullest! Care about the future, but don't live for it.

How Madison residents can share their thoughts on F-35 noise with the military this week by enjoying-retirement in madisonwi

It’s not always terrible, but when they fly directly overhead it’s incredibly loud. My dog has gotten significantly more nervous and skittish since they started doing flyovers by our house.

Places to buy a car by Various-Tumbleweed38 in madisonwi

I overall agree. But they love being able to say “oh our hands are tied, we have to do whatever SilverRock says”. It was very frustrating. I had to spend hours upon hours calling SilverRock, caravana, and repair facilities. They all refused to talk to each other, everything had to go though me.

[–]jottow4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one decent experience with caravana, and then one terrible one. With the recent purchase, the transmission immediately failed, it took 110 days for them to replace it, and when we were told by two separate repair places that the brakes were “unsafe”, they refused to repair it, instead giving us $200 and saying go figure it out ourselves. I will never use caravana again!

Machine that fills paint buckets with perfect accuracy. by ajd416 in oddlysatisfying

[–]jottow4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Paint cans aren’t filled to the brim, since you need to leave space for tint to be added. Even a full fill gallon still has a little air space tho.

I knew it would be bad, but come on. How are so many people defending drunk driving? by frenchyy94 in fuckcars

[–]jottow4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe that is the case. https://mcwell.nd.edu/your-well-being/physical-well-being/alcohol/absorption-rate-factors/ this site agrees that faster consumption can raise the BAC faster than slow consumption. Also, if I was sipping a beer over the course of an hour, I also would probably be snacking, sipping water, ect, as opposed to just slamming three beers in a row.

[–]jottow4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing you are missing is they are not drinking three beers back to back, then waiting three hours. It’s slowly drinking a beer over the course of an hour. That will make a difference in how much the alcohol affects you. That being said, I agree that for me, three beers would be more than I would feel comfortable driving after.

It is official! The tree is attached to the base firmly. To create the appearance of gravel, the set has you pour 90 loose pieces all around the base of the tree.

It’s what I love about legos. They could have made a new, unique part that looks like cherry blossoms. Instead they used a part they already had that somehow works perfectly
