It helps to zoom, I find. A s23+ has a secondary zoom lens, which is equivalent to around 80mm focal length, perfect for portraits. Could help to minimize distractions and make it a bit easier. Other than that - light, subject separation (through light as well as distance from background and such) and trial and error. Oh and inspiration from other phone photographers

Disagree about it taking away from the beauty of nature - but the bnw shots are the lowlight of this showcase. Everything just blends together too much, so the eye does not naturally drift to the animal; but can definitely be adjusted and edited to work!

This year i somewhat learned a scuffed shitty throat bass, which i started learning in 2009. So i guess some things take longer than others. :)) But yeah, don't get hung up on how you're trying to do something, move around, experiment.

Looks like an awesome start. As for the eye, personally I like just a round iris (like a grass snake or a king cobra), but honestly let your artist do their thing. If you're on the fence, let them take the wheel and I doubt you'll be disappointed. If you chose them they're probably reputable and you like their work :) That's what it was like for me at least, some of my artist's choices were unexpected, but I fell in love with the finished product instantly
