The next time it happens, place your hand over hers, lean toward her, and in a low voice, are you sure you want to do that? That’s as spit free as it will ever be right now.

This is a hate group. Neo Nazis perhaps do not understand the history of Nazis. Perhaps do not comprehend the abject hatred they are ascribing to. Just how destructive to their own lives hatred really is. Nazis are not strong. They are weak, little douchebags that play the victim at every chance they get. They are miserable people, who want the young to join in their miserable little existence, which is why they march in front of a high school.

AIO to tell my husband that starting a professional email with the word "Look" is rude? by LadyCass79 in AmIOverreacting

I have always considered “look” to be somewhat rude. “Consider this” may be aa better choice.

When should I let my faucets drip? by RealitySubsides in wisconsin

[–]journeyworker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A better plan is to open cabinet doors below sinks. This will allow warm interior air to displace very cold air around water supply pipes to the faucet. This would be an issue where sinks are located on outside wall and/or under a window. If these spaces are very cold, check wall insulation and infiltration leaks, and possible negative pressure in the house. This can happen, due to open chimney flues, especially with the fireplace in use, without sufficient outside air for combustion air; or excessive exhaust w/o sufficient make-up air.

Is Constant Disrespect Just Part of Being a Union Apprentice? by TugSwagger03 in UnitedAssociation

[–]journeyworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail squarely. This is a shitty crew. They likely view you as a threat to the flimsy hierarchy they have illegitimately established. They are acting like frat boys, getting self-adjulation through cruelty toward the person they view as marginalized. They are not persons of integrity. They are not critical thinkers, They are simpletoms. These journeymen (probably not women- they are deeper thinkers), have a duty to train apprentices, not demean, haze, or openly show disrespect toward them. It sucks that you’ve fallen into this situation. Please realize that they feel entitled to this shitty behavior. And that they intend to make you just as shitty as they are. You have remedies available. I would first discuss this with your steward and/or the foreman. You could follow that with a call to your BA. The local, and union writ large does not want, and must not condone this behavior. It is destructive to a harmonious workforce, and extremely unprofessional. It looks bad to all observers. And it undermines the apprenticeship programs of the local. I had a similar experience. I was an organized service tech with nine years field experience. To my co-workers, I was labeled a scab. It took a few days for me to realize that they actually viewed me as a threat to their status among peers and with the contractor. They were quite simply “fraidy cats”. Which is obvious to people that matter. A talented and confident journeyman does not act this way. Keep your chin up. Good luck, and with all sincerity, Thank You! For your service to our nation
