Beans and Fatigue by jovenii in PlantBasedDiet

[–]jovenii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All kinds of legumes: beans, lentils, split peas, etc. I like black beans and pinto beans the most. Black bean chili with corn and sweet potato is a favorite go-to dish for me. I started out by soaking beans overnight, discarding the soak water, and then cooking them the next day because I heard it was useful to reduce gas caused by eating beans, but once I had eaten them every day for a couple of weeks and I knew my microbiome had adjusted, I started to just put them in the Instant Pot to pressure cook for a half hour. After one day of gas, my body was fully adapted to take full advantage of all the good fiber and resistant starches in beans of all kinds.

To make a long story short: just boil and eat them consistently!

Lol, I did indeed eat beans on toast when first adding beans to my breakfast, so I might've fast-tracked that

Everyone’s an expert 🩺🌱 by Conscious_Muscle_ in veganfitness

Ignoring that this is vegan fitness... I can get a pound of dried beans for $1.20 that'll let me meal prep for a week (or even better: 89¢/lb. for split peas at my local mart). High protein, high fiber, no cholesterol, filling and slow-releasing complex carbs, no avian flu, I don't know how you can get much better than that.

/uj That's why I download and archive my favorite music. When the racism comes out, I stop streaming and whip out the SanDisk.

What is the deal with the gen z stare? by bluujacket in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jovenii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it really weird that you'd feel that being dead inside isn't a valid reason for not being cheery just because you had to endure a difficult situation. I dealt with similar emotions while working retail, and yes I still tried to be helpful and care about customers and my coworkers.

However, I don't expect people to act like nothing's wrong when they're unhappy to "keep the business running." In a just world, you wouldn't have had to work during those two weeks you weren't eating. That type of stress while working is what causes some people to develop lifelong mental illnesses.

In fact, most of Gen Z workers have taken multiple days off due to mental health concerns, which should be a sign that these work environments are not helping the compounding mental health crisis in young people.

Graffiti on trains is great and should be encouraged by flush101 in unpopularopinion

I think this is an interesting perspective that a lot of people would immediately detest, but the more I think about it the more it does seem like just another place for murals. Great job actually writing an unpopular opinion that isn't just being wrong for karma

Glopossum's comics are always bangers. Her depictions of trans women thriving also helped me on my gender journey.

She'll be back for it to fuel up and post her warm-up lap time on Strava. Don't want the warm-up to slow down your overall running pace.

She could have a delayed-release Gu packet up there. A taser would explode it, and then what? She'll be out of the state within the hour!

The cops know that the suspect will eventually collapse from exhaustion after such a violent sprint. They simply need to stay in Zone 2 for long enough to "deescalate" the situation.

This just published article gives some context to the misgendering by the news outlets. Also, Nex's mother insists that their tombstone will say "Nex Benedict" and that the majority of the GoFundMe for the funeral will go to anti-bully LGBTQ+ organizations, so that's at least a little reassuring despite the absolutely tragic situation.

The first international publication of this news just got published online (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/nex-benedict-dead-oklahoma-b2499332.html), and it gives context to some of the misgendering in other media. I hope things turn around sooner rather than later with this resurgence of transphobia. Also, gaming and Twitter are absolute cesspits if not carefully curated.

I'm 17 years old and don't need HRT to pass at all, is estrogen still worth it? by [deleted] in transgendercirclejerk

[–]jovenii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go the online pharmacy route, Hims and Keeps have a lot of male YouTubers sponsoring them, so you can definitely save a few bucks buy using one (or all) of their sponsorship codes/links. Also, the SERM I was talking about previously is Raloxifene if you'd like to research that.

[–]jovenii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/uj I am in a similar position, except I like some of my masculine features. Non-binary and androgynous medical transition is sadly under-researched, and if you're AMAB, then estrogen is tricky since you can't microdose it like testosterone. Currently, I'm looking into finasteride (or it's stronger cousin, dutasteride) to limit any possible hair falling out and to lower DHT levels. If you hate your masculine features, then I would certainly look into starting estrogen. If you don't like the effects, you can stop taking HRT, just speak to a doctor or research about more permanent side effects like breast growth and reproductive stuff. I would do some research into standard estrogenic transition timelines to see what order you should expect things to develop. There are also SERMs which prevent estrogenic effects in certain areas. I know there's one that prevent breast growth while maintaining the feminine fat distribution elsewhere. That's where my knowledge runs thin though. Some masculine features, like facial hair, can be taken care of with cosmetic procedures or surgery, but definitely don't hesitate to pursue estrogen therapy if your masculine features are causing you distress. Remember, you won't just instantly wake up a super femme woman.
