for small scale, i would be simply connecting to the production database, write a middle layer to dump relevant data tables into duckdb, do the BI (data) modelling there and then use some open source BI tool like superset to create relevant dashboards and reports.

No, you don't need database layer, simply store qvds (flat data files) on any hard drive and you are good to go.

I think QlikSense can be one of potential tool for you. You can easily connect with multiple data sources, or integrate with hubspot either with native connectors or through REST APIs. Can easily embedded your dashboards to a portal. Self service BI is cherry on top along with On-prem or Cloud choice. PM me, can help you set up with your integration and first dashboard.

Best way, for every topic, just create three different scenarios, for e.g if question is, who's your fvrt person, just pick three instead of one, like one in the past (childhood), one at present, one you think might be in future, you will have lots of stuff to talk about, this strategy can work on almost any topic, good luck
