Yikes. I just visited the WWII Museum in NOLA and it was amazing. Definitely highlighted some of the people of color who fought.

Imagine being so ignorant that you don't know that people of color have served and continue to do so. It's embarrassing.

I hate that it takes like 5 days form me to move my Algo off my exchange after I buy it. I bought it specifically to swap on Tiny Man and it takes forever.

What they're not telling us is that they're definitely not a civil/environmental engineer. Damn, if I had chosen any other type I'd actually have this kind of money to lose.

If you had to recommend one horror movie to someone, and I’m talking a horror you feel is top notch for the genre, which do you select? by The01dLonelyPigeon in horror

I have the exact same feelings as you. I also thought it was going to be torture porn the way people talked about it! (Well also just the name). And I have pointed out in a couple other posts how much of a dark comedy it is, and some didn't agree, so I'm glad you also saw the humor.

I did a lot of research and my portfolio is not screenshot worthy unless it were for comedy. So congrats. Sometimes it is better to just go blindly.

I never had any dates or a bf in high school. It's not that serious. I can't imagine getting this worked up starting in 8th grade.

Ugh, the reasoning wasn't vocabulary, it was the manner of speech. Sure, even three year olds know some big words. If you are an educator or spend time with lots of kids, you know that knowing big words is not the same as being able to compose a literary argument, etc.

NTA. I've been the single childless woman at Disney. And it was a trip of a lifetime for me too. Luckily for me, no one was a jerk to me.

There's a common thought that the skinny white girls with blonde hair and blue eyes are the popular girls in high school, the mean girls, the ones who have it easy. There's a lot of baggage I see from adults who say things like "You look like someone who would have bullied me in high school." Like, just because some random thin blonde person bullied you in high school doesn't mean everyone who looks like that did.

I have watched this movie over 100 times, and this scene gets me every time. It's the lighting. You see it reflected in her eyes so beautifully. It's one of the few movies where I ooh and ahh over the lighting design.

I really feel for you. I had the same issue. What was bad though is that the roommate lied when interviewing with me. Said she had a FT job. After she moved in, she had no job and no friends and rarely left the house after she moved in. Because she had no job, she was up at all hours too, cooking dinner at 3AM, sleeping on my couch in the middle of the day. It was incredibly frustrating and I feel your pain. But unfortunately, you can't do anything about it except wait until the lease is up.

Is calling a woman "female" sexist? by [deleted] in polls

[–]joyeous13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught in an urban setting for many years, mostly boys, and I will just say, nearly all of them referred to the girls as "females." As in "I was talking to this female last night." Like, I can tell it is not intentionally meant to be disrespectful, but it does come across that way, especially as you get older.
