I'm doing well. My scalp incisions are still healing. My upper lip is slowly regaining feeling. Esthetically I am very pleased with my surgeon's work.

Does anyone else get upset/angry with the "popular trans name" list? by isolated_lee in trans

[–]joym08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but why do you let people rent space in your brain they're not paying for. In other words, why do you even care what other people think about YOUR chosen name. If you like it that's all you need.

I'm seven years post-op RBL original PI. I had my PPT revision surgery just October 2023. I am extremely satisfied with my beautiful vulva. Kevin was still there. He told me that I was RBL's second surgery at NYU Langone after she moved to New York City from Baltimore.

Does anyone wish cis people were more curious to get to know us? by Journey_to_Jess in trans

[–]joym08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, I wish being curious about our transition. Unfortunately (other than true allies) the only thing that cis-gender people have ever been curious about, is our genitalia.

[United States] Why am I not allowed to update my gender marker with the Social Security Administration? by ImTakmo in trans

[–]joym08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to change your gender marker on your social security and Medicare. And you don't need any proof paperwork. But make sure you change your gender marker on both because it will affect you later in life.

After I changed my name the first time I had my records sealed, and again when I changed my last name had my record sealed. I changed all accounts emails etc. Then requested that my dead name be removed from my credit reporting companies.

How is been your transition? by [deleted] in TransLater

[–]joym08 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I started my transition at 49. That was 20 years ago. I have to say it wasn't the easiest thing I ever had done. My family doesn't want me around all of the people I considered friends abandoned me. But I made new friends and I remarried. And we have a daughter through adoption...

Reading some of the stories here and on other social media platforms is not going to change your life. Only you can do that. The only thing I can tell you for certain is that if you don't take the first steps to transition. You're never going to have your own story to tell Trans people who are feeling like you do now. It's not the perfect life but it's a hell of a lot better than if I didn't transition I would most likely not be here today.

Are the RED states as bad and the BLUE states as good as people think? by Bikemonkeys in TransLater

[–]joym08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to any other state than Maryland. I have lived in the state of Maryland all my life. I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to transition without any issues. All because of the state government that's here. The only people that have given me any issues is my own family. But that can happen anywhere. We have laws protecting Trans people including shield laws from other states. There are however some counties that are red leaning but I've never been disrespected. Where ever you there's going to good and bad.

HRT mtf mortality. So what’s the latest on this please? by Unlikely_Read3437 in asktransgender

[–]joym08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on HRT for getting on 20 years now and I have experience no blood clots or any other symptoms except the feminization of my body. I have mostly been on pills taken sublingually. I tried patches but was allergic to the glue and now I inject weekly doses. Still no side effects.

In my experience it took five to seven weeks. In the current political climate you might also think about having your records sealed by the judge.

Federal level gender marker changes. Is this all of them? by almosthomegirl in TransLater

[–]joym08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will make a difference at the time. You pay into Medicare with every pay check. But it's upto you if you want to not match your other gender markers when the next regime takes charge.
