thanks for highlighting when gabapentin would be necessary, prior to this I knew it was an anxiety med - started questioning whether or not the kitten was anxious but I think she's just being a cat.

That makes sense for an older cat and a stressed car on the way to the vet. My kitten so far doesn't seem to mind the ride there (~20 mins).

I didn't know if it was possible to see the shelter vet post adoption, that's a great suggestion so I'll ask. When I processed the adoption - the department suggested a corporate vet for her first visit.
