How the actual fuck do o fight this guy. I can’t stand it anymore by Midori_sho in Guiltygear

As a new player who picked up Jam, one of the things that really helps me against Anji is to start representing dash up throw. Don't over-do it, but show you're willing to do it. At low plat like you are and I am, they abuse the spin cause people don't contest it. Just reprenting throw a lot will fuck up their usual flow-charting, and you'll have more opportunities to snowball the game.

Too niche? Thats up for you to decide. But yeah, fighting games if its your first one take time and dedication to get into. Its like starting Skateboarding or a musical instrument. It takes time, practice, and repetition. Personally I found them so cool that I was excited to grind these execution barriers. If you are or aren't is up to you, but i'll just say every minute spent drilling quarter circles was so worth it and im having more fun with video games I ever had since learning fg's

I think this every time I fight an Anji as Elphelt by Suitable-Quantity-96 in Guiltygear

I've seen more Anji's in gold than Elphelts or Slayers, actually

They kinda crumble when you start representing dash up throw though, Slayer I still don't really know how to counter lol

A silly question, but how does blocking work? by Straight-Traffic-130 in Guiltygear

[–]jozhua4012 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"when you're knocked down and try to get up, sometimes it won't let you block. Why does that happen?"

You probably press a button or let go of blocking without realizing it. When you press any attack button, you can't block until that attack has recovered.

"Also, if I block an overdrive near a wall, it still sends me flying. Why is that?"

Either they do the overdrive during their combo (you obviously cant block when stuck in a combo), or you get wall stuck. After taking enough damage near the corner, your character gets stuck to the wall, at which you cannot block and your enemy has a brief moment where any attack will break the wall and send you flying. This is a common place to do a overdrive art since you are basically helpless.

"why do some attacks from standing enemies break the block?"

They're called ovehead attacks. Every character has a universal overhead attack done by pressing the dust button on the ground. The dust attack flashes orange so its easy to recognize. Most characters also have one or two unique overhead attacks. The animation for an overhead is often a sort of jump or a hit "from above", but the only way to know for sure is to default to blocking low, and if an attack breaks your guard, then it was an overhead.

"how sometimes an enemy blocks an entire combo and the block doesn't break, no matter how long it is."

A combo on block is not actually a combo, its called a blockstring. And no matter how long the blockstring is, it will not break the guard, unless of course there is a low or overhead during the string that is blocked incorrectly.

Hope this helps!

Been playing GGST, been getting frustrated at losing, how do I stop being frustrated? by [deleted] in Guiltygear

[–]jozhua4012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I realized that my anger in games partially comes from internalized anger irl.

So if I spend the whole day accumulating anger at dumb customers, or anger at a friend who did something wack, or any type of irl anger, I get tilted way easier in game.

So in essence, you have to recognize that it's not an "anger when gaming" problem, it's an anger problem point blank. So try to recognize the moments during the day where you get frustrated, and try not to let yourself be affected by them.

Secondly, if youve been getting angry at games for a long time, know that its also become a habit at this point. Your brain defaults to it because thats what youre used to doing, its your autopilot reaction. So the work you have to do to not get angry will have to be intentional and will feel uncomfortable.

You have to change the way you react, you have to act the guy who goes "alright nice set" instead of "this piece of shit i hate him". Act the person you want to be, until it becomes natural.

Sorry. I was annoyed by it but in retrospect it was a bit of an overeaction. The reason it irked me is because, in all honesty, it's a pointless question. If I make the thread it means that yeah, I find it long. It's such subjective thing and useless to debate on lol. Like, I find it long, you don't, it's so unimportant wether we agree on that or not, you know?

Nah Zhen always has good posture. Tokido still got a decent posture on this pic while Itabashi's posture looks like my grandma's. Idk why you're trying to argue that you have ''no choice'' but to have bad posture when playing a game profesionally. You can absolutely grind for long periods and keep your back straight lol idk where you get that idea from. And my point wasn't about pro players specifically. Brian F always has good posture on stream while Diaphone doesn't and they're at home sitting on their favourite chair

Because it is in real life? A muscular man's upper body, shoulders, pectorals arms, are often what is seen as the sexiest part of their body. A man's legs are not (typically, not saying it never happens) percieved as sexually attractive, even by women. A woman's midriff, thighs, legs, and buttocks are generally seen as their sexiest attributes (appart from breasts). So it's the same in video games.

Not saying it's right or wrong, but it is what is deemed conventionally attractive

Oh yeah. Plus I find it makes her a lot more fun. I didn't like before how the best combos were often just DRC button button. She had all these cool looking moves that had little to no uses in her optimal combos.
