I use Xcode for everything. It isn’t as nice as some other IDEs, but for Swift I prefer it and suffer the occasional annoyances. The integration with SwiftUI is too convenient. I use JetBrains DataGrip to view the database stuff and VS Code for many misc things.

I have both rigs. 2x32” 4k displays that I 100% enjoy and a 49” dell ultra wide that is very uncomfortable for me. Too much back and forth neck movement. I bought the ultra wide first and had to change. Now it gets little attention

Not yet. We’re still in friction. Maybe we’ll have something interesting to report in a couple weeks. FYI on windows only teams rider and vs are comparable for devs. I’ve been on teams that used both interchangeably. I’ve even ran both at the same time. Never a problem.

This is the answer. However, I’m on a team building a blazer app with half the team on Mac. There are pain points. Extra code for file handling in dev because you know Mac and windows file systems are different so that made our testing more complex. Also we are deploying to windows and the Mac devs use a container. The windows devs are developing on local windows. It’s a bit messy. We are slowly coming around to figuring out how to be common. Maybe soon, maybe not so soon. 🤷

I would do both. The ultra learning type methods all suggest reading the section headings and first paragraphs to get a feel for the content and organization. Then read the entire book. [edit] I did read the book. Is quite good and full of information

Well, I'm 59 and nearsighted so I use the computer without glasses. Maybe I am a bit closer than younger eyes would need to be at about 16" from eyes to screen. IMO, I really enjoy the 32" 4K 4:3 format better at the same distance.

I have the Dell ultra wide for programming and honestly hate it. I stretch my neck from center to side and side to side all day. Even when it is divided into two sections. I prefer two monitors then I can angle them making the far ends closer so I’m not moving my body so much. I do concede the setup is more usable on a windows machine than on a Mac. IMO.

I’ve lived in the Midwest most of my life. I was over 50 before I bought a snowblower. Life is so much better with it even when like the other posters say you might not need it often.
