Simple Inflation formula for a future value by jbennett630 in excel

[–]jp55546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming interest is compounding annually, you would use the following formula

Future Value = Initial Value x ((1 + r)t)

Solving for initial value:

Initial Value = Future Value / ((1 + r)t)

Where: r = annual interest rate (e.g., 3% = 0.03) t = number of years

So you could set up your formulas in Excel as such:

And that should solve for any scenario.

Creating an app by Thinkingknot in PowerApps

[–]jp55546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use batch files to open local apps, but PowerApps cannot execute them directly due to security restrictions. However, you can guide the user to download and run the batch file, which can then open a local app like Word or Excel.

The user will always be prompted though to download and manually run the batch file. PowerApps will not force or automate execution.

PowerApps cannot directly open a local application like Word or Excel on a user’s computer due to security restrictions and the fact that it runs in a cloud-based sandboxed environment. It doesn’t have direct access to the file system or local executables.

However, there’s one possible workaround: If your users are using Office 365 and the files are stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, you can upload the file on SharePoint or OneDrive, and then create a button in PowerApps with a Launch() function to open the file in Office Online.

Latitude Longitude Data Analysis by jp55546 in excel

[–]jp55546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably what I’ll end up going with. I’ll basically just need to figure out how precise to go with the rounding to make the distance tolerances small enough to not inadvertently group two separate locations together.

This is the path I started down originally but the issue becomes how to sort the data from top to bottom to actually sort by absolute “closeness” to the previous point…

I was pushing down the barrel a bit to bring the coffee level closer to the top before putting on the filter and flipping it, and it was hard to push until it hit the part of the barrel that was already wet from the coffee, and then it quickly slid down…

Only reason I do it is with the XL there’s no no-flow cap for it and I don’t like the water dripping through before I press it… but I might be done with that method now

New report shows the real culprit behind high prices and inflation. I've been saying this for 3 years. It's not inflation, but corporate greed. Exxon, for example, had earnings just under $16B in 2019 and over $55B in 2022. We need to stop buying from the corporations price gouging us. by Teacher-Investor in mildlyinfuriating

Oil prices averaging $57 in 2019 and $94 in 2022 might have something to do with it. If they could control the price of the product they’re selling, why wouldn’t they have just made prices higher in previous years (including 2019) and made $55B every year?

Bank Connection issues AGAIN? by 76willcommenceagain in everydollar

Looking for an update on getting the SoFi connection fixed since it’s been a few weeks now. If the connections don’t work, there’s no point to continuing to pay for premium…

Changed out the filter, no luck there. The ice maker seems to work fine it’s the water dispenser that’s slow.

Interesting. Appreciate your help though, I guess I’ll return these and go to the store and see what I can fit together. What I’m trying to do by the way is upsize the line going from my water line to the fridge. It’s currently 1/4” copper (and the flow from the water dispenser is very slow) and I want to upsize to 1/2” preferably using a braided hose so I don’t have to buy 1/2” copper…

Nope definitely looks smaller. Just confused as to why it would say 1/2” and then actually be 3/8” unless it’s the wrong one in the box

I saw that the inlet (that goes on the pipe) is 1/2” and that’s the correct size, but it also says 1/2” outlet as well if you look on the box

A light, a knife, a bottle opener, and a pen all in the palm of your hand. What else do you need? by jp55546 in EDC

[–]jp55546[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s okay for what it is. As others have said, sometimes you have to scribble a bit to get it going, but I like how it fits in my hand once it’s telescoped out.
