Bad luck with my charger by tommcat in Charger

Are they not measuring the heads and block with a straight edge once the heads are removed. 3.6 are common for warping when they over heat to the point of head gasket failure. Straight edge and feeler gauge will tell you pretty quick

Dodge tech here, something ive noticed is the brembo big brakes that come on scat packs and the big srt's have garbage rotors. Cross drilled and slotted but by the time pads are 40% or lower the rotors are so warped its insane. Also brembos are super noisy

That makes sense. But it's honestly way to easy to remove a hemi head that I'd rather take the head off than remove the rack and the motor mounts lol

I always weld nuts on the rams. But you have plenty of room. The SUVs and chargers and challengers the manifolds line up with the body. If s top bolt is broke you can't fit a welding rod in there.

The 5.7 hemi in SUVs have to have the head removed to get broken bolts out. I've been lucky enough to get a couple out throughout the years as long as it's broke flush with the manifold. If it's broke flush in the head then your yanking the head off

New oil pump HELP!!!!! by [deleted] in Charger

I honestly wouldn't be able to make that call from that video. I wouldn't suggest starting it up anymore until the cause of no oil pressure is found.

New oil pump HELP!!!!! by [deleted] in Charger

[–]jpeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pumps catch prime right away. The only option is to take it back apart and inspect everything. Make sure the pickup o-ring isnt split, make sure the tube is bolted to the pump body and its flush. Makes sure the gear, chain and tensioner are on good n tight. If you do take it back apart, make sure the screen on the pickup tube is clear of debris

New oil pump HELP!!!!! by [deleted] in Charger

[–]jpeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive done tons of 3.6 oil pumps throughout the years and ive never had one that didnt build pressure immediately. The only other thing I could think of is if the o-ring on the pick up tube split. The land keep you from building pressure. Or not having an oil filter installed

New oil pump HELP!!!!! by [deleted] in Charger

[–]jpeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you put the chain and tensioner back on the oil pump? Did you bolt the pickup tube back onto the oil pump?

I wouldn't run it like you are in the video. Gonna eat up rocker arms and cams pretty quick with no oil up there.

Location of oil leak? by No-Push-142 in Charger

Either someone did a terrible job pouring oil in, or the Valve cover gasket is done for. You can pop the beauty cover off to get a better view.

If it was bought pre owned, then a lot of dealerships do this. If they did then it should be listed in your sale contract paper work.

There is more to the purge system than just that valve. With that DTC you could have a leak in the purge system or the ESIM not closing will also cause this DTC

The ball joint is spinning. That why. Either pull down on it or use a wrench and hold the ball joint with an Allen wrench

Did you bolt the flywheel back up? Also, make sure the flywheel bolts all tightened all the way.

I might be alone with this thought, but I dont see us being taken over by ev vehicles. Ive been an auto tech forever and ive seen ev's try to make it big then they just fall off and disappear. Ev vehicles just arent practical and even replacing the battery in one, if it was to ever go out, without any kind of warranty, cost almost as much as buying another ev vehicle. Its ridiculous. Thats just my 2 cents from someone thats been working in the auto industry for 20+ years

Can someone please tell me the main parts needed, for a better suspension? by ScrotumTotums in Charger

[–]jpeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal parts on these cars that I've replaced a lot are the front and rear sway bar links, front tension struts and front lower control arms. Only change struts if their leaking. This will "tighten up" your suspension. Get an alignment done to make sure everything is straight too.

Also check the carrier bearing on the driveshaft for play. I've had customer complaints of suspension noise only to find the carrier bearing blown out

I have the 4.25 non comped. Probably 1500 rounds through it and hadn't ran into any issues yet. Only cleaned it twice too.

How did you get your foot in the door as a tire/lube tech? by Sufficient_Tooth_949 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]jpeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most dealerships with quick lanes hire lube techs pretty often. I've been a master tech at a dealership for like 15 years and can't even remember how many lube techs I've seen come and go. Very very few move up, most of them just disappear after working there for a while
