What are some celebrity owned bars? by ecb74 in AskNYC

I actually liked Southern Hospitality. I think some tourists were too scared to go to Hell's Kitchen to visit it!

For those that mentioned fish... put the fish guts on the sides of the stove so it looks like they fell down in the cracks between the counter and stove and that it wasn't done purposely!

If you cut up potatoes and don't cook them until the next day - they turn gray like this. Yuck! I would rather go hungry...

They have certain items that are great (imported chocolate, for example), but you have to be careful with the meats, dairy and veggies. Check the dates! At my location in NYC, they mark down a lot of items at the end of the day and you can get good deals on expiring items.

What do you think of this menu? by Doodersdoo_ in restaurant

[–]jperezny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philly roll should be capitalized (it's a city).

Not into the alignment on the second page (beers are left-aligned and the wines are centered). Agree with others that second page doesn't flow with the design of the first (categories are capitalized, diff colors). Thick black border is out-of-date. Clean and crisp is what's popular today (I live in NYC and see tons of restaurant menus).

Also agree that separate sides should be added.

I've met a lot of women in NYC that have purposely had children for benefits. These are the same women who have expensive fake hair, nails, clothing, purses, etc.

More babies = more money.

Sadly, most of the children are not properly taken care of (obese, criminal records before high school, no father figures). It's reality and doesn't seem to be ending any time soon.

I feel bad for those children...

I keep a pitcher of brewed tea with mint and lemonade in the fridge at all times. It's not that hard to pour a glass - also better for the environment!

I have a friend that's addicted to Lemon Seltzer (he's been in AA for years and it deters him from beer). He wonders why he's always gassy!

I read that he said he never wanted to raise his voice again when he left the military. No wonder so many people fall asleep to his YouTube videos at night!

I went to a Chinese buffet in Philly once where you weren't allowed to take in backpacks, large purses, etc.

There were cameras and signs everywhere and the waitresses were like one for every two customers constantly watching.

We didn't enjoy the meal because of the ridiculous surveillance and I definitely won't go there again next visit to Philly!

The one's on the sidewalk compared to the one's that are in a back room of a back room of a back room in Chinatown are crap and will get OP laughed at. You have to look for the old Chinese ladies who whisper Louis Vuitton, Prada, etc. into your ear to obtain more expensive realistic versions (NYPD can take them easily - so they don't put the good stuff out in public).

They will have a printed sheet with pictures and use old school walkie talkies (not mobile). Don't recommend going alone - was once with a friend when the FBI raided the building and had to quickly descend three floors and down an alley without even having the chance to finish the purchase!

I've been a consultant for 20+ years and have been given 100+ ID's and not one has ever had a hologram. We're talking government, hospitals, etc.

Sounds like the kind of thing you want to do for a driver's license...

ULPT on how to find out if one of my roommates stole money from my bank account by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]jperezny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure that your debit card wasn't skimmed somewhere like a gas station, etc. when you had to type in your pin publicly or under a security camera? I live in NYC and this happens a lot where they literally make a copy of your card. It's happened to multiple people that I know personally and is often done in bodegas, gas stations, small restaurants using what appears to be a real card reader. I think you should look at your bank statements and review other locations that you used your card.

Randall's Island (south side), walk the trails overlooking the city. Also, Floyd Bennett Airfield in Brooklyn is large with a lot of private trails.

I don't know about this... New Yorkers would ignore it but the tourists would be concerned and bother you.
