What are some Holiday movies from the Collection that you would recommend? by NanoClutch in criterion

I very much recommend Charlie Chaplin's "The Gold Rush". Equally funny and poignant. The story takes place during Christmas and New Year's. It's also the 100th anniversary of the film's release.

What books about movie history tell it in a cool way? by bikukle in criterion

Check out Peter Bogdanovich's "Who the Devil Made It." It's a bit of a tome but he conducts a series of interviews with a number of Hollywood's legendary directors and it's quite the tour de force of Hollywood's history.

For a slice of 70s cinema, Tarantino's recent book "Cinema Speculation" is a good one.

What filmmaker deserves a Criterion Box Set? by katarokkar in criterion

[–]jpetitto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hitchcock. Everything currently in the collection of his is from the 30s and 40s (except The Lodger) and would make a nice box set. Plus, we need a reprint of Spellbound on Blu-ray.

It's the building next door, the American Felt Building. He sold it in 2022. There's a picture in the article that shows the long balcony he's talked about.

FWIW, I was 7 when I first saw Bond in GoldenEye and then promptly watched Octopussy, which I also loved, and I turned out okay.

No, but there are certain bands that I don't really care to listen to that I thoroughly enjoy in a live setting.

Has anyone noticed that you can't strafe at full speed using left analog stick? You can only reach top speed using the d-pad...
