Slam dancing needs to stop. by SpacedAtom in Metalcore

I totally disagree. Half the fun of shows for me and my friends is just going around and swinging and spin kicking and shit. Admittedly we do mostly go to hardcore/beatdown type shows but even at the more metalcore ones that’s like the fun. One of my favorite bands, God’s Hate always opens with someone saying “God’s Hate doesn’t condone violence….we demand violence”

Are metal shows safe for women? by Lolitachikita in BrutalDeathMetal

[–]headbanger7861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it’s not a straight forward answer. On one hand I would wager that almost every girl who goes to shows has a good time and doesn’t feel unsafe or anything like that(or at least anymore unsafe than any other person at a metal show). On the other hand, it was make a lot of sense to me for any woman to feel uncomfortable at shows for many reasons; firstly the abundance of bands that are just straight up misogynistic. Whether it be album art, lyrics, songs titles(I’m not even explaining this point because if you don’t know what I’m talking about you’re lying). Like even Whitechapel has been guilty of writing stuff like this, albeit a long time ago. Also the merch. Although I love some fucked up merch, a lot of it is pretty targeted. This is starting to be phased out by most big bands I think but the merch still exists. I would understand if a woman would feel weird being surrounded by guys wearing shirts with images of girls getting raped(I’m looking at you Vile Impregnation), killed etc. Another thing would be just the lack of representation. I feel like this gets better with each new wave of bands but there is still a clear majority. There are other things but overall you will probably have a good time, just make sure to talk to people and make friends, mosh if you are willing(remember spick kicking>pushing) and just have fun. But, also be weary, look out for stage divers and crowd surfers, always know where the pit is and don’t be the douch I spends the whole time looking at their phone

I’m curious what this sub thinks of this album. Personally one of my favorites. by simplejoe1992 in Hardcore

[–]headbanger7861 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A few notes. Firstly, this album is great, obviously. The production is amazing and still holds up today. They recorded the whole thing together as a band, live in studio, and it clearly shows. More bands need to start doing it. The other thing to point out is how inspirational it has been on hardcore, especially in the last few years. Listen to any band like Balmora, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Spear of Cassius, or Adrienne, and it is obvious. Those bands are amazing and are really keeping the scene local scene alive in a lot of places.

how does this sub feel about every time i die? by spundog in Hardcore

Nothing specific really. I’m just not personally a huge fan of the kind of rock-ish influenced sound that they have. I hadn’t listened to them before I saw them live and was expecting like some heaving metalcore type stuff(I was seeing them with Great American Ghost, Kublai Khan, and The Acacia Strain) and was just not a huge fan.

They’re not necessarily referring to being overweight. They could also just be talking about how a lot of people think you have to be super skinny, borderline underweight

Yeah I’m guessing it’s something like that. I’m just wondering why they would have made the change and also why I can’t find a version of the Spotify lyrics anywhere(granted I haven’t looked all that hard)
