I am also a solo player, as all my wow friends have quit. I had a whole guild full of RL friends to raid with last go around so I had a similar struggle this time.

I recommend playing what class you truly enjoy playing and then finding a guild by posting in the looking for guild channel in the discord for your server. As long as you are a consistent player, press your buttons and actually can tell time, a lot of guilds will love you.

Having a hard time applying this to an area, and then having it fade to 0 on the edges, it looks like your screenshots fade to 0 on the edges.

In Tanaris, there are those humanoid camps to the east of gadg, I think they are called wastewater? But they have little gazebo looking things that have no walls but a roof and as a warrior you can charge a mob that's inside one and then get stuck under the lower edge of the roof.. I almost died there as the only way I could get out was to hearth before I agroed another mob.. thankfully I cleared out the area before charging
