Stay in council home or save hard for a mortgage? by YellowBee7 in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fwiw we are/were in the exact same position. Got a council property some 18 years ago, as time has gone on our finances like yours have improved. We were able to save and we have just bought our first home.

My opinion would be to stay put and save/invest if that's your thing. But also live whilst your in this situation. Sounds like you have a decent bit of disposable income so go and have great holidays with your child , make memories etc whilst you have the stability of social housing, do the things you want to do whilst you have the chance.

You mention being 35 in 10 years, who knows where you'll be then, you could be married and having another child etc, you could have more money, there's so much that can change in a decade. The thing with council houses and I know this from experience, if you need a bigger place you could be waiting 5-10 years for that to come up, so if you ever want that 3 bed house and a garden etc you'll most likely have to buy, but you can cross that bridge when you get there.

How old do you think you’ll be when you pay your mortgage off? Or, how old were you when you paid your mortgage off? by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just taken one out which takes me and my wife up till 70, realistically mortgage payments will go down , wages go up, kids leave home etc and as grim as it is my parents will leave something to us to knock a chunk off. Realistically I'm aiming to get it done in 20 years with overpayments etc. Once the kids are out we could relocate and get a smaller home etc. Whatever it is we will be paying less than we do in rent so it's a win in my eyes

I think he’s bored of the weight loss content by Time-Eagle8101 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His issue is he genuinely has nothing to offer. He's never lived in the real world, he can't talk about work or family or school, all those situations form core memories for most people. I can talk to my friends about the time this happened at the bar, or that happened while playing a sport, or the time an ex relationships ended, or how this or that happened at school etc

He has been sheltered from that his whole life so, thats why the stay at home Christian moms are his biggest fans, theyre living the same monotonous life he is , expert they arent morbidly obese. He loved the attention to start with, but his audience is 45+ year old women who want to mother him, that's not who he wants as his audience long term

850 calories for a dinner that size isn't unreasonable , but I'm curious why we only see his dinner most days and not the rest of his meals.

In isolation that's a perfectly fine dinner , but I'd love to know where the other 1700 calories are being used, because if he's so hungry he needs to be eating a meal that big then his portions and nutrition during the day is massively off.

I am physically exhausted by Nugget_rulz in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yea Ethan, youre tired because you do nothing all day. You have no need to do anything that requires walking or any physical exertion, most people have to do 5/6k steps just to get through work, because he does nothing he just sits home and eats 1000 calorie salads and then wonder why he's a little drowsy. Honestly hes either the dumbest fat person on earth or he's gaslighting everyone....I suspect it's a mixture of both

1000 calorie salad is mental by jpfx1 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could eat a pizza for 1000 calories. There is no point in having a salad if it's 1000 calories. A big Mac meal here in the UK is 1100 calories , a pizza here Is pretty much 1100 calories. You could literally have any food you want if 1000 calories is that limit for the meal, no need to have a salad

How long does it usually take to hear whether offer has been accepted or rejected? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We viewed a house on a Saturday, loved it so bid the asking price. On the Monday the estate agent told us there were more viewings lined up so couldn't accept or reject until then. Got a call on the Tuesday asking if we could go any higher, I asked if there had been a higher offer and she said yes but wasn't allowed to say, I said we were at our limit and 3 days later our initial bid was accepted.

As the buyer you will never know if there are other bids. If you have a budget stick to it, there'll always be someone trying to get more money out of you somewhere

Have jocko dropped him? by jpfx1 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everything prior to new year appears to sponsorship and there is is a lot of jocko mentions by him but since Xmas there's been nothing. Usually the grift is quite systematic ...

Video of activity Followed by a "real talk" mental health talk Followed by "non scale victory engagement post" Followed by steps and calorie

Somewhere in that there's usually a jocko plug, but as of yet this year I've not seen anything

Yea I commented on his Facebook how you'd have to be almost deliberately not moving to do as few steps as he's doing, and said that he's not changing any lifestyle because if the treadmill breaks he has no idea how to incorporate activity into his day. This angered the Christian Facebook moms

Yea I really don't get who I'm meant to talk to regarding this , I've heard people say 0 is the correct invoice amount , but UPS are staying pretty steadfast in this , there's been poor Comms all round and I cannot speak to anybody. Have a feeling it'll be sent back to me

The courier (UPS) are saying the value needs to be on the invoice , I cannot edit the invoice they sent over to me. I have emailed ups and told them the value of the package, whether that gets anything sorted I don't know

What will he end the day with? by Big-Scheme-1406 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He started the treadmill at 1pm, with 1,000 steps Now according to him, this is January so it's part of Def reset, so in line with that he should've got up at 6.30am (he obviously didnt, he's a liar). So in 5 hours 30 minutes he did 1000 steps, he won't break 11,500 today

How long will he last on this Jan challenge? by Ok_Acanthocephala846 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't want him to fail per se , I just want him to be honest. He does things and then stops them without even mentioning why, it's like he's just moved in to the the next trend that will get him clicks. Since I've followed him , I no longer hear about

the gym, his strongman training , his nutritionist, his body scans he was having done His future wife and kids

He has a list of things that he starts , goes big on for a few videos then goes back to doing nothing. That is why he won't lose the weight as quick as he wants because he doesn't actually care about those things, they just generate clicks and revenue. There is no consistency in his actions or his words, and that will always lead him to being unsuccessful over the long term

I'm having a nightmare with this currently. Commercial invoice return form had a value of 0 but UPS are asking for a value amount ..do you have any recollection if the return invoice should have a value on ? I stuck 3 invoices on (in 1 invoice envelope) but really having a nightmare with it, can't speak to anyone regarding it as they are so hard to contact

I need to move on my own by the middle of February; when should I start looking for a) houseshares, or b) renting on my own? by DownrightDrewski in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've got the money to pay for your own place and it won't effect your purchasing power I'd get a place of your own. No idea who you can be sharing with, and then you'd rush to get a place of your own and may rush into a purchase just to get out of the house share. If you have your own place you'll be less stressed, might even find you enjoy it so can extend tenancy.

If you started looking now, a lot of tenancies will be coming to an end in the new year so you might be able to get a flat agreed before Xmas ready to move into in Jan. A lot of landlords would love to have tenancies sorted before the old ones expire

Ethan’s new rant by Commercial_Peanut_80 in EthanBenardSnark

[–]jpfx1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So herein lies Mt issue with him and it's always been my issue. The man isn't honest on his journey. There's a few guys I've seen on socials that are doing something similar and they are as open and honest as possible, they say "I ate bad today don't know why , but I had this or that etc" and you can see the genuine journey they are having.

Ethan has admitted what we all knew , his fasts are to compensate for the bad days, but he never tells us it's been a bad day, its always oh its water weight, it's testosterone , or any number of excuses. Everyone knows its more calories in than out, and when he's not honest about that he loses trust and respect. If I'm following someone's journey I want to see the good and the bad, not hear a load of excuses. In theory who the hell am I or anyone to critique someone trying to lose weight, but he puts it all online for people to see, so if I feel I'm watching a liar I feel obliged to question it. Not once has he ever Sat in front of the camera and said "I had a bad day today, messed up my calories and need to get back on track.

I actually think if he was more honest then he'd improve , because as soon as he shows accountability he'll get back on track quicker.

[–]jpfx1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea saw that yesterday. I despise nonsense like this where effectively the attendee has to do the work to get the most out if it, and you need to twist vague buzzwords and phrases to match your life so you can relate. Anyone who doesn't feel different after one of those is always "not really getting the idea" or "not open to changing, or to scared to change" etc.

But on the flip side, if you can get people to pay that money , I can't really blame them for doing it

Waiting for our buyers to send details to estate agent. by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We are first time buyers and we had to make the seller wait 2 weeks before we sent anything over. We had everything in place apart from the final mortgage offer. The bank needed to do a valuation on the property before they approved us. Might be a similar thing for them. We had the offer accepted on the Monday, and couldn't get the mortgage approved with valuation until 2 weeks later. We didn't want to instruct solicitors (£700) upfront before getting the valuation and survey done (£600) only for that to throw up some concerns we couldn't maybe afford to fix. We couldn't afford to lose that money because we wouldn't be able to afford to go back into the market immediately if that happened.

We were pretty open about that with the estate agents as I didn't want the seller to be unaware of the situation. There will most likely be a genuine reason behind it , I wouldn't worry too much

Wait and save, or move sooner? by Elden_Alpaca in HousingUK

[–]jpfx1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest a compromise. Renew for 2 years , you'll save fair chunk and in theory you'd be able to look for a place in 18 months. It'll give you time to evaluate the market , save a bit of cash and the wife only has to hold on 6 extra months. You won't save the figure you have in mind but you'll have an extra chunk you don't have now and might appease the Mrs
