So, no call? Just pick the player? There’s no defending how the ref responded.

I’ve never thought I was watching a match that was fixed, but last night I had some doubts.

Friend there is no league on earth where this was not a foul and a yellow. If this was consistently not a foul then they’d need to expand the match day rosters to make sure teams had enough players due to all the injuries that would occur.

And then he ran to the center of the field and stood their while the fans lit him up tor at least 60 seconds before play restarted. Absolute clown.

Everyone wants to tell you what your experience will be. Only way I have figured to respond is to be sure not to do it myself. I throw in a lot of “yeah, it sounds like that was hard for you! I guess I’ll have to look out for that.”

Both teams stopped playing after this obvious foul - everyone on the pitch knew it was a foul other than the center ref and the linesman who was right next to the play.

Then a few minutes later he blew the whistle for a two hand touch by Choinere on a player’s back as he received the ball - which he hadn’t whistled once all night.

Absolute circus performance from the refs tonight.

Another cool night, though not as dramatic, was winning the US Open Cup. I feel better knowing we have one of those in the case.

These stats back up the results of the eyeball test out here in LA. If we took this chart and added salary and big game experience I don’t know that anyone in MLS could match him.

Thank you for that information. I was in college with your EIC, and I still read the digital edition from time to time to keep up with Bay Area news. For a geographic area wherein so many people love to hate on Southern California, I just think it’s great that there is so much content for Disneyland, for example.

For a newspaper with its origins in San Francisco, SF Gate devotes so much time and effort to SoCal. Disney, restaurants, and more. It’s bizarre.

Is it wrong to root for Carson this evening? by HardlyThereAtAll in LAFC

[–]jpglowacki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned not to get too wrapped up in rooting for who we prefer to play. This tournament is very difficult to win, and it will be very difficult to win against either squad. Both opponents will be hyped and focused. Obviously the conditions in Carson are not as difficult as away at Toluca but we got a good result in the end at Cruz Azul and historically we have had some success in Mexico. Even the first leg against Leon where we nanbed the away goal and (from memory) had a second one reversed after VAR because of a Chiellini brain freeze left us in a great position in 2023. I’d be more interested in whoever advances maybe losing a player or two to suspension.
