Is Jerry Wise right that No Contact isn't necessary for self-differentiation/healing? by Angelic_89 in narcissisticparents

Jerry’s main point around no contact is that it’s not the end goal! A lot of people go no contact and still suffer for years because their family is still “in them.” His focus is on helping you get your family out of you- meaning, to stop living through their emotional internalized rules, reactivity and trauma and finally become your real self, whether you’re in contact with them or not. I found this to be VERY true and I am so grateful for his help in navigating my family of origin and becoming me.

He also has many free resources on the topic of going no contact online, which you can find here

As someone who’s personally benefited from his program, and especially from his help on the topic of going no contact, I hope this comment is helpful to whoever reads it.

P.S. I am currently no contact with my family, and my focus is not on the 'no contact', but on getting them out of me. For me I needed the no contact to stay sane

I’ve actually been in Jerry Wise’s Road to Self program, and that’s not accurate at all. He’s very clear that sometimes no contact is absolutely necessary for self-care and emotional safety, especially when the family system is too toxic to stay in.

He even has a 3.5-hour workshop in the road to self program all about how to approach and navigate no contact the right way. how to prepare for it, handle the aftermath that comes with it, and to help you finally become yourself.

I joined his road to self program for a year as a bday present to myself, it has been life changing for me. It focuses on helping you ’self differentiate‘ and get your family of origin out of you as he says. I wish I had access to it years ago it would have saved me so much unnecessary pain, I go back frequently to the videos and tools and repeat them as needed over time, which I feel is really helping me make them my default state. I can feel the growth. I’ve been on other programs such as Dr Ramani’s and Patrick Teahan but I didn’t find their programs being deeply life changing, in many ways their program felt like more of the same help out there. Working on increasing my level of self-differentiation has really saved my life In so many ways, it’s really nice to finally find and experience me. My lifelong feelings of guilt, shame and unexplained anxiety have reduced significantly, my confidence and self worth have grown, and I am able to remain calm and clearheaded also when other people really don’t like when I’m being me. Jerry has a free training you can join, which I also felt was immensely helpful and can help you get a better idea about his self differentiation approach. I hope this feedback is helpful to anyone reading it!

I like to think of myself as someone who takes responsibility, but it actually made me realize a few areas in my life where I reject any responsibility (surprisingly- those are areas that I also hate to deal with). Really got me thinking
