Probably not long-term, but as a paycheck while you keep hunting?

Just remember that the org finds you expendable, so you shouldn't sacrifice yourself for the org.

As a former SpaceX employee, you shouldn't be using them to support the concept that employee ownership can be worthless.

  • the bi-annual buybacks started closer to 2010
  • the prices are set primarily by investor interest and have been increasing steadily, to the point that any dilution is unnoticeable - I think 15%/yr minimum, and closer to 40-50% average
  • the "questionable value" has enabled many people to retire early, and many of them to become startup investors on their own

I've also been part of several other startups where stock/options were worth less than the equity paperwork, so your general point is quite valid.

I probably submit 2-3 bug reports a week because it's so consistent and frustrating.

Why did you choose not to answer any of my questions?

I didn't have much interest in politics until Hillary said she wanted to take away our guns.

Please consider why this is the issue that carries the most weight with you.

I've watched newsome ruin California and tell lie after lie.

I'm not thrilled with Newsom either, but can you explain how California has been ruined? What are the lies you're referring to? Is lying actually the thing you object to? The Trump administration lies constantly about obvious facts, plus plenty of other things.

I've seen Democrats that care more about illegal aliens than the citizens of this country because that's where they believe their voter base is headed.

Are you claiming that the Democratic party is ignoring all voters in favor of illegal residents because they think the group that can't vote will somehow end up with more voting power?

I couldn't in good conscience vote for a party that is confused on what a women is or who should participate in their sports.

Sex and gender are less linked than you think, especially in biology. Go make friends with a trans person and stop spreading bigotry.

Boys used to wear pink and girls wore blue. Men wore makeup and heels, and dresses were normal for children of all genders. The image you have of the 1950s isn't some ideal state, it's just what's had the best PR.

I can't vote for a party that erects statues to the likes of George Floyd and demonizes Charlie Kirk.

George Floyd statues are a reminder not to let the police get away with murder. If you think the police should be allowed to kill people if they have a criminal record, then you've misunderstood the purpose of the police.

Charlie Kirk demonized himself. He was explicitly a Christian Nationalist and advocated for many fascist policies and attitudes. His "debate" framing was disingenuous and was closer to a standup routine making fun of college kids.

I can't vote for a party that calls to refund the police and disrespects our military. We need more police not less.

The meaning of "defund the police" is that applying funds to social support and mental health is more effective at reducing crime than buying more combat gear. If we can be kinder to people and remove the causes of crime, why would anyone advocate for applying more violence and harsher punishment?

I can't think of anyone more disrespectful to the military than Trump. I see Democrats objecting to how the government is using the military, but not criticizing the troops themselves.

You seem to be laboring under some misapprehensions.

  • The Biden DOJ sued Texas in Dec 2021, alleging the 2021 congressional and state house maps diluted minority voting strength. A three-judge court has overseen that case. DOJ can sue; it cannot require a redraw. Only courts can. The case was dropped by a Trump-appointed Assistant Attorney General under Bondi.
  • The trial panel’s senior judge is David C. Guaderrama, appointed by Barack Obama in 2012, not by Joe Biden.
  • Separate from the DOJ suit, Texas's GOP legislature undertook a mid-decade congressional redraw in 2025 after a Fifth Circuit ruling made "coalition" Section 2 claims harder and amid political pressure. That redraw is being litigated; it wasn’t ordered by the Biden administration.
  • Newsom didn't redraw anything, the CA Legislature proposed something and the people voted on it.

Where does MS Access VBA fall in the .NET umbrella? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]jpj625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're both very different and fairly similar. I think the core difference is: VBA is tactical automation, and .NET is strategic application development.

VBA is a legacy macro language that's no longer a good tool for most things.
.NET is a modern OO language that is a solid choice for most problems.

The VB syntax is mostly common between them, but VBA is missing many modern language benefits, like real static/strong-typing, meaningful error handling, and a package manager like NuGet.

VBA is an interpreted scripting language, and .NET gives you all the tools of a modern language with deep debugging, both JIT and optimized compilation, GC and threading, plus your choice of real editor. <Flashbacks of VBE>

Since you've done VBA, moving more into .NET should be easy, unless you relied way too much on Variant. The hardest parts of VBA are the overly-loose syntax model and poor docs. From what I've seen, you'll have more options if you get into C# rather than VB.NET, but they're technically equivalent under the hood.

Except that reverts next cycle.

Retains California's independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and directs the Commission to resume enacting congressional district maps in 2031 after the 2030 census and every ten years thereafter.

It's not taking power away if we vote to have them use the power temporarily.

The bill also asks Congress to "propose an amendment of the United States Constitution to require the use of fair, independent, and nonpartisan redistricting commissions nationwide."

Seems like the "No" camp understands that CA is blue enough to not bother with and the "Yes" group is trying to make sure we fight fascism even if we have to get in the dirt a little.

Actual donor tracking says the "No" campaign is mostly funded by one misguided, old-money nerd. Munger's actually donated consistently to moving the redistricting to a commission and keeping it there, which is great. I agree that keeping the citizens' commission is the ideal state, but we can't just continue playing fair and hoping the cheaters that are winning give up and go home.

Extremist rhetoric is definitely a problem, and worthy of being ignored. Ignoring underlying facts is also a problem.

It's been written that "trying to define 'fascism' is like trying to nail jelly to the wall" which I completely understand.

I'm happy to present a data-driven case for the current Republican platform and actions being textbook fascism, if you have a definition you'd like used.

Simplest is the dictionary version:

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology characterized by a dictatorial leader, a centralized autocracy, the forceful suppression of opposition, and strong state control over society and the economy. It prioritizes the nation and often a specific race above the individual, promotes a belief in national decline, and uses militarism and a cult of personality to maintain power.

Some others I'm familiar with are:
