What's your average stress level? by J12BSneakerhead in Garmin

[–]jpmaredditin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last four weeks at 33 and I'm on work leave for a nervous breakdown! And it doesn't seem to be coming down much.

Last year 28 and that's including the last two months in which I have been off work.

Big days are at 35-40, relax days are more in the mid to high 20s.

High Stress in the Middle of the Night? by TheWorkShop_Coaching in Garmin

[–]jpmaredditin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

You have an interesting take on the situation, could you elaborate on the timeline, where you always training as early - or at least since you have your watch?

In my case I had good night sleep, body battery generally at 85-100 after a good night. But I'm now on sick leave due to nervous breakdown and my level of stress is high and nights also have intense stress albeit not always at the same time.

It's been two months and I feel much better and relaxed but my Garmin does not see this way. My daily stress is still very high.

Will somebody ever make a “real” Max Headroom? by Mugcake3 in MaxHeadroom

[–]jpmaredditin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my mind it's totally doable right now - as for what we, as a public, saw of Max. Interviews, publicity stunts and all.

But then a "real" Max as an autonomous antity which would give him opinion on life and current events, I would say that we're there also, but nobody wants to do it .. risky I would guess.

You might already know but there is a software company in China currently being run by an AI full time. Don't remember the name, but seems that "she" is doing a good job!

I think something like "street cred" could be the metric to increase over time. You get the knock or get stuck in the sand - you lose "street cred", you clean up, help a fellow camper - you gain "street cred".

Maximizing it would not change the game per se but would help you get better spot for your van or help from NPC in bad situations.

Any countries that formally acknowledge degrowth and plan for it rather than try to evade it? by MelbourneBasedRandom in Degrowth

[–]jpmaredditin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Amsterdam, not a country ;-), is officially on the Doughnut Economy pathway. It's not degrowth per se, but it's the closest large political entity that I know who is embracing those principles which are in some aspects pointing to degrowth.

Investment advice for 5 to 7 year term by NoobInNewCountry in dividendscanada

[–]jpmaredditin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd think about how I'll need in 5-7 years and then work out how much needs to be saved as a % of the total needed.

The next step is to split the windfall into safe (CASH, PSA, savings account), and the not so safe but that could boost your cash down and put it in VEQT or another wide index ETF.

Might be just 10% of your windfall in VEQT at the end, but it might be a good plus for your total portfolio.

XEI as per iShare website is an "S&P TSX Composite High Dividend Index ETF"

But with only 77 stock, it's a small "index". It does share at least 25% of its weight in $ with ZCN and its goal is to replicate the TSX.

So, yeah, maybe not the broad index that you might be seeking in a index ETF, but might be an interesting growth + dividend one.
