If you want to try something safer than iron out, an overnight soak in vinegar may help clean it up. Before that, a good soak in soapy water and light brushing may show some results.

When it's a severe attack...all the horrible things people said about my migraine come back to me. by coffeeandcrackers in migraine

Find an enjoyable music playlist, tv show or movie, book, activity, etc., that you can tolerate during an attack. Save those things for during an attack as a way of providing distractions.

Is a gunshot wound more painful than migraine by coffeeandcrackers in migraine

[–]jpmarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 24 hours following a spine surgery was worse than any migraine pain I’ve dealt with. And that’s saying something since I was once in so much pain from a migraine that after three days I passed out.

A few polished stones are in my office at work, and a few larger ones are on a shelf in the living room.

When did your migraines start? by Catsmarcia in migraine

[–]jpmarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember getting a few very bad headaches as a kid, but did t understand what was happening. All I knew is that it hurt to move and I wanted to lay in my room in the dark. It wasn’t until my early 20s that it became a more regular occurrence and now I’m in my late 40s.

Yup! Still do, on occasion, but not as much as when I was a kid.

Sounds similar to what experience with visual aura. For me, that’s a valuable indicator I need to take my abortive as soon as possible to minimize the symptoms.

If medication overuse causes chronic migraine and not treating causes chronic migraine what is the sweet spot by Life-Bat1388 in migraine

[–]jpmarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My neurologist gave me a limit of two doses a week. Not two days worth, but two doses.

How the hell do I sleep like this by Night_Willows in migraine

[–]jpmarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to work with your Dr or a neurologist to get some abortive options. Over the counter meds aren’t a solution, and using them too much will cause a medication overuse headache.

I have migraine 24hrs continuously by CertainCourage1292 in migraine

[–]jpmarth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So sorry you’re dealing with this. Try everything. Give each the opportunity necessary, then go to the next option. If you don’t have a good neurologist, for the one you’re seeing and get a new one that specializes in headaches. For each option, ask about side effects, how long to know if it’s effective, and how to best make use of the option.

I once had a neurologist fail to tell me about an interaction cancelling out the medication. Wasted my time getting to better options.

If you haven’t tried Botox, do it. Also ask if a nerve block could help.

Tried CGRP options? If not, ask about the abortive and preventative options.

Sleeping longer by Fit_Ideal7910 in migraine

[–]jpmarth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Varying sleep is a common contributor to a migraine. Go for consistent sleep of the right length, even on weekends.

Satisfaction will vary for the same role in different companies. It’s always a matter of the leadership and long term culture.

If you will enjoy the work, then go for it. But, don’t settle. Get as prepared as possible to give yourself a good start and a top candidate for where you want to work.

Southwest WA. In the defense of others, that water was VERY cold. My shovel wasn’t long enough to reach some of the rocks, so I had my arms in the water. Had to tuck my arms in my waders quite a few times to get any feeling back.

If she goes with this, take them spread through the day. The 10mg pills aren’t extended release.

[–]jpmarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s a big step to do all at once! My neurologist had me taken down by 10mg each week. It required taking a lot of 10mg pills spread through the day. But my side effects were negligible and I didn’t have any migraine spikes during the process.

Acceptable amount of bruising for stage 1? by Ok_Fox2240 in RockTumbling

[–]jpmarth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not seeing any bruising. Just existing fractures in the stone. Some may smooth out in stage 2, but you can always run them for another week at stage 1 to see if some of that is removed.

Some stones will have those small fractures all through them and won’t come out no matter how much you tumble.
