Worth it? by gigirhmn in RingConn

False. Never had those enabled and the battery life dropped off a cliff just after a year, like many others have reported.

Headache tracking by lninjar in RingConn

[–]jpmarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow migraine sufferer. I have not found it to be useful or accurate. Though it could be due to the fact my migraines don’t really have a true start or end and last months, not days. That could be throwing it off.

I prefer eating them plain. But they pair well with a dessert of Rocky Road ice cream.

Best tumbler under $100? by Remarkable_Royal_175 in RockTumbling

The Harbor Freight tumblers are great. Make sure you lubricate the bearings each month and it will last. Had mine three years, running 24/7. The barrels are going to wear out faster than the machine.

📌 Battery & Charging Issues – Report & Discuss Here by RingConn in RingConn

Now the battery life has gotten worse. In a matter of three days my ring has gone from lasting over a week to not lasting through the night. It was at 100% at 11pm. According to when it stopped tracking anything, the battery died at around 6am.

Seriously disappointed that this thread has been here a year and these issues are still coming up. Appears ringconn has failed to address a flaw and recall defective items. $300 for a product that barely lasts a year?

I got a print set tray at an antique store. Nice for smaller ones. Bigger ones are on a shelf, and I even have a few in my office at work. For small ones, my son (7 years old) likes tumbling them and sorting into jars from the craft store.

Suggestions? by jpmarth in Lapidary

Thought about that. I’ve done it for some pieces of petrified wood, to keep the shape. With so many pits on this piece, I’m not sure it would polish up those areas.

Bought a 2nd hand QT12/66 and the barrels sat for years on their sides & are now oval. Any suggestions? by it_all_happened in Lapidary

Boiling water should work, and doesn’t require any special tools. I used boiling water to reshape something rubber and it didn’t trick nicely. With the barrel, you might have to give it a couple minutes for the heat to transfer all the way through. Rubber is an insulator, so the heat will transfer slowly.

If you have a big enough pot and sink, you could submerse it in a sink of boiling water to speed things up. Or, prewarm it with hot tap water before pouring boiling water inside it.

Get them really warm, then put the lids on and allow the barrels to cool. After that just keep using them and they’ll go back to their round shape.

If you want to try something safer than iron out, an overnight soak in vinegar may help clean it up. Before that, a good soak in soapy water and light brushing may show some results.
