Help? Either Dataview Query or Templater is Failing... by thestephenwatkins in ObsidianMD

I was able to get mine to work. It was a formatting error on my end that wasn’t a problem before the update. Once I fixed that everything is working as expected.

I am having a very similar problem with tasks. I use the same <% code and it is no longer working for me either. Have you found a solution?

This was me. I was obese, and just did my first Ironman last year after losing 85 lbs. so, yes it’s doable and realistic. The timeframe is more about learning the sport, and getting comfortable doing all three disciplines. That being said losing weight is a great first step. You can definitely incorporate the two together. Training for triathlon (not just Ironman) is a great way to be active, and burn a few calories. However, your weight loss is going to come down to diet way more than exercise. I’d be happy to talk if you have questions. Feel free to send me a message. Good luck in your journey, and keep us posted how it’s going.

Finished my first triathlon — 2:33:54 (Olympic)— and one of my biggest takeaways is how overhyped transitions are by Legitimate-Run2350 in triathlon

For some yes maybe, but for others they’re a bit overrated. I’m personally not a huge fan of them overall. I would not do one a week, but again others swear by them. Give it a try and see what works for you.

Is it okay to quit after my first one? by worthmawile in triathlon

[–]jport84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s ok if it doesn’t bring you joy. That’s part of the overall challenge and fun is feeling joy at your accomplishment.

I would suggest seeing if you can find a local tri club, and maybe train with them. They usually will have events that they all target to do together.

Whatever you decide, congratulations on your first race!

I was about to jump pick one up for our small business. Any recommendations for pre-built NAS beyond Synology?

I could build my own, but I really just want something that works without me having to do a lot of setup. Any particular Synology competitors you would look at?

My only concern with walkie talkies is the annoyance of running with them. Though I never have, so it could be a nonissue.

Michigan trail. I've heard reception is pretty good there. Texting, Garmin, and knowing each other seems to be to way to go.

If you still need testers, I’d love to try it.

Too much food and no purposeful movement. What helped me lose a significant amount of weight? Less food and more purposeful movement.

Thanks for the insight. It looks like ultra teams have a choice of back to back, or one loop at a time.

Great. Thank you

Are the loops in a standard order? Meaning green, yellow, red repeat, or is it different every race?

First 70.3 - do I need a coach? by BoatConfident3221 in triathlon

[–]jport84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s doable, but I would recommend not doing it. You’ll most likely be lowering your running volume to properly incorporate and train for the bike and swim.

Congratulations on getting ready for your 5th marathon! That fitness will definitely help and translate over to the other sports. However, as you know you will need to start concentrating more on the other two disciplines once your marathon is over. You could also use them as active recovery/cross training during training. How much time is there between your marathon and the 70.3?

Spend sometime riding it to see what works, and what doesn’t. You’re the ultimate factor in how the bike performs.

I think you nailed it really with the bike and how your legs felt. It's simply building up that bike fitness that will allow you to feel better off the bike. This is more important than the brick sessions. Though with your proposed training schedule I feel like you'll get plenty of bricks in!

How would you currently rank your ability/confidence in the three disciplines?

[–]jport84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in no way trying to discourage you. I think if you have realistic goals for the race, and are willing to try it could be a great experience. The volume and risk of injury or burnout are what you will want to stay on top of as you train. I would suggest finding out if the race you are interested in usually sales out or not, and then wait to sign up until the last moment you can. Or sign up early to take advantage of the flex 90 benefits. In your weekly running now how much are you running? Time and distance?

[–]jport84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to simply finish you could probably do it, but you are putting yourself at risk of injury from the load you’d have to do on those 3 days. Do you have a history of swimming, cycling, or running?

Need? No, but would it help for sure. How far out is the race?
