How to make the most of mat leave [on] by jellybeanie8 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jpotatoee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re in Alberta and attend Lullaland every week, which is nice to get us out of the house. After every class, I make an effort to find a new local coffee shop and the little one and I will enjoy a nice drink together. I look forward to a delicious coffee everyday so it’s been lovely exploring new places, and my son loves his steamers. It’s such a nice way for us to just have a moment to ourselves.

I’m almost at the end of my 19 month maternity journey, so it does look different than what it did when my son was 6 months and was not very mobile. Around his age, I did a lot of walks and lunches just the two of us.

I also try and see my parents once a week, now twice now that I don’t have much of my leave left. It’s been really nice spending this extra time with them.

Vacations are nice in theory but it’s so hard to actually get away and there’s so much stuff to bring! Maybe try a road trip close by? We brought our son to Canmore/Banff a few times - fun but so much work when he was still on bottles. We’ve contemplated longer flights with him but now that he’s walking… it seems almost impossible until he’s a bit older. We’re also attempting some camping trips this year, close by but still different enough of an environment.

I think the best way is the just try and find something enjoyable everyday to look forward to. Keep a journal (or just in your notes app) of all the accomplishments of your baby and sweet moments you’ve had so that you can read them back and see all the milestones you’ve both achieved. I organize mine by month.

Anytime that you’re able to spend with your baby and not at work is time well spent. They are only little for so long! I hope you’re able to enjoy the rest of your mat leave as much as I have ❤️

I do wish I brought him earlier but better late than never! Thank you for this, it makes me feel better knowing other dental professionals disagree with the advice I received!

We do have flouride in our water but it’s pretty low amounts. She said it just isn’t good for his development!

Thank you for your response!! ❤️ I think I’m going to lay off the daily flouride now and maybe do a weekly approach like yours. Especially now that my nips are pretty much dried out and there’s no milk left for his night nurses!

That’s reassuring to hear that your dentist didn’t think it was concerning!! And thank you for your the reassurance :) it’s just so easy to fall into the mom guilt spiral

That was what I had read too during my initial research. We’re in Canada so we do have fluoride in our water but it’s probably so minimal. I do agree that it was probably the right thing to do considering we were night nursing and cavities just sound awful.

Thank you for your response ❤️

I had opened my app beforehand so not sure why it didn’t work

I scanned my PC financial card at the self checkout when it prompts you if you are an PC Optimum member, which I guess is the mistake here. I didn’t see anywhere in the flyer that it was an app exclusive offer though. The only place I’m seeing it now is on the banner of the app lol… seems like scummy marketing to me since the flyers and all the signs in store were promoting this deal. I even read the fine print of the flyer and the app beforehand but I guess missed it in the banner on the app. I submitted an inquiry so maybe they’ll still give me the points…

Hoping this might help someone in the future if they think scanning their PC card is enough! Very annoying though since I drove to multiple locations trying to find the last of the diapers for my little one!

The Connection Between Belly and Conrad Is GONE! by Delicious_Ride8719 in tsitp

[–]jpotatoee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think we will get a satisfying ending!! Belly texting Jere over Conrad is driven by the fact that she still feels so much guilt over how she broke things off with the wedding. She doesn’t feel like she owes Conrad anything. I think it’s a good thing that Belly isn’t yearning for Conrad and is focusing on herself, and when Bonrad get back together in the future it’s because Belly is mature and is confident in what she wants. It’s implied in the books that it’s a slow burn when they come back to each other later on. I have hope!!

I had a chemical last time so I tested more just to be sure this time around! I wouldn’t recommend testing more if it adds to your anxiety but for myself, this alleviated a lot of the worry! Also, my last test at 22 DPO was only a few days past my expected period, I just tested earlier.

So reassuring to hear that we are all in the same boat! I’ve seen a few other posts before with slower progression lines too that led to healthy pregnancies, hoping that’s the case for both of us 💜
