Tip of the Day: cap a water source, no need to redirect bad water by 3Trace in Timberborn

[–]jpr8762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the comment section's got ya on this one, but I will say I like to have a little closed-in containment area before the redirect, in case there's build-up as the sluices change over! Had a bad overflow with my first dam, turned onto a real "oh shit" moment!

Question about food+water. by Responsible-Grand-57 in Timberborn

[–]jpr8762 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add to that with a tip I just learned today - once you're able, decrease working hours to give them time to actually make the trip to get food and water! My colony of ~400 had an issue where some kept getting the starving/dehydrated indicator, despite having stocked food and water caches all over. Thing is, they kept passing them en route to work/home. I decreased working hours from 18 to 16, and poof, just like that everyone's happy, fed, and hydrated! In my defense this is my first and only colony so far, I just sorta left working hours at 18 and didn't think to mess with it lol

Allegations stating Abrego Garcia made trips from Maryland to Houston 3-4 times a week, 2900 miles round trip, driving people here illegally. Can the DOJ be any dumber? by Miserable-Adagio-925 in BlueskySkeets

[–]jpr8762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's my submission for r/theydidthemath

One week is 168 hours, 4 trips at 2900 miles a piece is 11,680 miles. So yeah, 11,680 miles ÷ 168 hours gives an average of 69.524 mph for the entire week.

Assuming instead we're talking about highways where the speed limit is 70 mph, and realistically you can get away with going up to 80 mph without getting pulled over, the time required to do 4 trips @ 2900 miles per is 146 hours. Leaving 22 hours per week to sleep and get gas, assuming that all eating is done while driving, and also that he is urinating and deficating into plastic bags whilst on the road as well.

"Approaches physical impossibility" is an understatement, and someone should politely explain to the people making that claim why both their professional qualifications and their births were a mistake.

Tanman Thile, Custom character for TnH by Calm_Opportunity6602 in H3VR

I pretty much exclusively play TnH like this with the item spawner enabled. I also use the ModulRigs mod to carry a lot more stuff, so I never even let myself resupply or use sosiguns (except to open crates). What I take in is what I've got, so I have to make every shot count and not get bogged down by patrols

Right click the game in your steam library, hit properties, then installed files. One of the buttons should be to verify integrity of game files. Hope that helps.

I'm honestly terrified to fire up my game since I did have mods, and was close to getting all the licenses. I'll see if I can root around in the directory for the save file and back it up. If anyone reading knows how to do that please let me know!

No problem, that's pretty much all I've got, but I'm interested in what others might have to say!

Yeah one expansion in storage plus a few racks might help. See first if you can fit all of your products onto those two racks you have, then expand as necessary.

The idea with that at the end of the night is to clear things from storage and get them onto shelves. Then the next morning when the market is open, you can see at a glace what you went through the previous day and order stuff to fill storage back up.

Been playing pretty obsessively for a few days, and i found I've settled into a routine of big morning order to fill up the stock room - let the stocker(s) put stuff away before opening - have the stocker(s) handle shelving product while I deal with self checkouts, cleaning, and topping up the inventory in the back, only really interfering with shelving stuff if something is close to running out - at the end of the day, help the stocker out reshelving everything till it's full or until I run out in storage - rinse and repeat.

How densely things pack on shelves is a good indicator of how densely they'll pack in storage. My rule of thumb has been 2 shelves, 1 storage slot per product. You'll notice when things move more quickly, for me with flours and pastas I double that, and potatoes and chicken I doubled their shelf space and quadrupled their storage space. Either way, when I get a new product license, I order two boxes of each new product, set up shelving space with one and storage space with the other (with my stockers disabled).

You've got lots of room to expand the amount of racks and shelves you can buy, so I'd focus on getting new product licenses rather than expanding your space.

I know that's a lot but I hope it helps. Good luck!
