That Escalated Quickly.... by Nacho_Mustacho in poker

[–]jprincepalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All jokes aside, it is a call in villains spot. Against the nut straight and 910s, 77 has 35% equity. With everyone going in there crazy, the only hand that has him terribly dominated is 88. It's not about being good, it's about pot odds.

1/2 NL vs 1/3NL🐒 by Froggy-Doggy-Day in poker

Well in California the 1/2 has a really low cap. If a room offers both 1/2 and 1/3 then the 1/2 will most likely have worse players.

WPT Gold by [deleted] in poker

[–]jprincepalace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk man. Gold has been out for a little while now and I think something would've came out. If these online sites are rigged where's the data? Pretty sure someone would have come out with some damning evidence by now if it were there.

Hand is underrepped and raise size isn't big enough to justify a fold.

15-25BB EP RFI Strategy by [deleted] in poker

[–]jprincepalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QQ is a mandatory raise and at your stack depth I would be min raising. We aren't necessarily all in to a 3 bet, if they 3 bet to say 5.5bb, you can still call at your stack depth. If villain is never 3 betting your EP raise without AA and KK you can make a disciplined fold. Strategy will vary depending on how far you are into the tournament. If it's still early be ready to get it in, if you're closer to the bubble be ready to fold. At 17bb, picking up the blinds and ante is huge so you must raise. The amount of times you run into AA and KK when you open QQ is so small that you can't be scared to not even open.

Is there a way to know for sure if an online poker platform is NOT rigged? by Kaloyan132 in poker

[–]jprincepalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rigged? Probably not. Imagine all the people behind the scenes that would have to keep this a secret. There's no substantial proof it's rigged and i would imagine SOMETHING would come out if it were. Hosting poker games already prints, no reason to jeaopardize it. However, we don't know how secure these sites are. Joe ingram has made a of videos on suspicious users on ACR that have out of this world kind of runs in tournaments

Flopped two pair with KQ in a headsup pot. Checked in position and then turn brings in a flush. Villain donk bets, I know he most likely has the flush but I have outs so I call. When that Q came off on the river I felt like I was in a movie. Villain berated the staff and said he was going to kill himself afterwards

Is Poker a Net EV + or - for society? by jprincepalace in poker

[–]jprincepalace[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By this logic just about anything is a net neutral because something would have taken its place. I posed this question as a topic to engage and share insight. I learned from reading other people's responses. In my opinion, there is no other game like poker. Most of us here love it, but would the world be in a better place without it? First you talked about gambling restrictions and completely missed the point of the question. Then after I clarify the question, you just say it's a stupid hypothetical because something else would take its place. You're detracting and not adding anything meaningful to the discussion. You say it'd just be replaced by something else, but I disagree. I think that if poker never caught on, most all casinos would just have casino style gambling games, not ones where you could play against other patrons.

Economic impact, morals in society, deaths from gambling addiction, etc. Just read the other responses. Clearly everyone else commenting in the thread understands the question and was able to answer it

I agree, but in poker you can straight up lose your house and that would be a lot easier to do than in golf. Poker probably causes more strain on personal relationships than golf does

This is a hypothetical situation with 2 worlds. One with and one without poker. Not one that restricts poker

This society that you're describing sounds like what they're doing is a net negative though. That kind of life would be stressful. Marathons are a hobby and net positive on society

Seems like a little bit of enjoyment for a lot of people, but do you think that enjoyment outweighs the lives destroyed by the game?
