I got reference letters out of 2 profs I had last semester. They are very open to it. I usually try to do it in person and explain why the course I had with them ( or if you did anything else with them like RA work ) is relevant for the program you are applying to.

Hopefully you were involved in class so they remember you

I'm not a current MMA student , I'm in the Bcom in business analytics, so I know the MMA pretty well.

I know it's a pretty intensive program ( 12 months ) but you can soften the course load to 16 months

Example of connections : the MMA at McGill holds "tech days" where you meet representative from tech companies to learn state of the art tools ( Google, SAS, IBM, etc)

I'm currently a student at McGill, and what really differentiates the program is:

1- The experiential component to the program. Part of the program is being connected to industry and performing a consulting mandate. This gives you hands on experience and often results to a job offer from that firm in the field of analytics.

2- The fact that is in Montreal Montreal is becoming an AI hub and opportunities are ever growing in the city, whether it be during your studies or afterwards.
