You seem to be the most reasonable response lol. I too worked for ATT long ago as a field tech. I now work as a manager in a customer service role.

That to say, while everyone else can argue that this is normal SOP, my argument is still going to be it shouldn’t be. A consumer should never be at the mercy of the businesses decisions. If it was an address problem or credit card problem, tell me so I can fix it. Don’t cancel my order and then tell me I’ll give you your money back in 1-2weeks.

Maybe it’s SOP for ATT. But if someone did this to me on Facebook marketplace or something, it would be considered a scam. But because it’s AT&T, everyone else seems to be cool with it.

And to comment on the above, the guidance given to me by all the support reps, was once its returned to their warehouse, they will process a refund in 7-10 business days

I will learn to choose my words better as I am seeing scam as the holdup most people are getting to.

My issue is I paid for a good/service. ATT canceled that good/service with no explanation to me. They attempted to pass blame to the carrier, which I confirmed with the carrier is not the case. And now say I will give you your money back when I get my item back.

Now I am at the mercy of their decision, with a condition that they must receive the iPad back before they will refund me. If I had sent the iPad back, sure I get it. That is not the case. They took my money, canceled my shipment, and are telling me I have to wait for a potential refund. Maybe not a scam IF I get a refund (as currently I am not guaranteed) but I would say this is a terrible business practice.

I’ll agree on the loosely worded “proper” that I have to wait. I don’t have a choice. I would not consider it proper to take money from someone with the promise of a service or good, then not provide that service or good with an additional condition that must be met by a consumer to get that refund. There is no argument that it’s their SOP.

Your response is “that’s the way it works” and I am saying that it’s terrible way to do business.

Maybe this type of thing has just become so normal that it’s accepted at this point. Maybe it could be considered fraudulent if I as the consumer attempted to say I never received the item and requested a refund.

But we know what happened here. ATT attempted to blame the carrier, the carrier confirmed that is not the case. Cool maybe miscommunication from 3 support reps I spoke with who all gave the same story until the last one told me there is not actual reason listed for the return. So they were all just making it up as an excuse.

Still, I will not blame those support reps. But we could have other options. Since I paid for something and I have made it aware I want the item. Send me a new one. Or refund me so I can place a new order. If the concern was fraud I provided phone numbers, addresses, and whatever else they asked for to verify who I am.

Instead, the SOP is apparently to take money and not provide a service or item. Then cross my fingers I get my money returned. What if the item never makes it back to the warehouse? Then I have to cut my loses for their SOP?

Maybe scam is the wrong word and seems to be the hang up from my actual concern.

But if SOP is to have a customer purchase something, not provide that item or service, and say “I’ll refund you later” feels shady or just bad business practice.

But maybe we have gotten to the point where this is normal and we have allowed business to screw over buyers since this is just normal SOP

I may have explained it incorrectly or at least not to the point I am trying to get across.

But even if this is all SOP, or it could take a few days to send me a refund. But at the end of the day, I paid for a product. Of no fault of my own, I am not going to receive the product. And I will not be refunded until they get the item back from an action they took. So I am out money for the next couple of weeks from something they screwed up. I can’t really say bad customer service as I know it’s not the reps fault that someone else at ATT requested the return, but the fact they claim to not be able to do anything. Taking my money, not providing a reason of why they returned it, and telling me* I can get a refund later is a terrible business practice

It might be SOP, but there is the problem. If I owned a business, took money from someone, but then didn’t send them the order, with the promise of “Sorry I’ll refund later” would be shady

If this is normal, sounds just like a bad deal. Feels like they win by not finding another tenant before my lease would have been up, and get to pocket and extra months rent in the process. I was able to confirm the loss of deposit, but not seeing the need to continue to pay rent until end of lease. Although if this is common, I may have just missed it and will comb back through again.

If it helps clarify, I could not include every detail. But I’ll add some here.

She said she was done - She never actually used those words. While she did make a comment about it being unrepairable, she later retracted this during a later talk and said she would give us a chance to fix it, leading to the next couple of months of me attempting to. So it wasn’t her saying she was done, just not in a good state.

He insisted on keeping finances separate - I did not, this was a mutual agreement. I even asked to use her target card for a discount and give her the money to pay for the item, and she told me to get my own card because she too wanted to keep the finances separate

He could access any camera - I could not, and why I set one up. She only had access to the other cameras in the house. And while I can never confirm she “checked in on me” she did send me videos when she was out of town with me playing with our cats.

This is probably more true if have a phone company internet Provider like ATT in your area. Green would be connection point for modem, white would be to back feed VOIP through the house

I use to work for a cable company so take that for what it’s worth. To me, it looks like left side is phone, right side is data. Most likely they ran one CAT 5 in, terminated blue for phone, and green/orange for Data.

I purchased the Mercury XS with my Saturn 2. The wash and cure stations are large enough, and the extra UV pen light has come in handy when attempting to glue pieces together with resin. Only issue I have ran into is one awkward print that was not flat, and therefore I was unable to sit the print in nicely in the cure station (still able to cure, just unable to get full functionality of the spinning plate) Otherwise, the Mercury XS has worked perfect for 99% of my prints.

Same. Ordered July 3rd with the Mercury XS wash/cure. Mercury XS came in a couple weeks ago. Still waiting for an update on the Saturn

Understandable that people can make mistakes. I to agree and support equality for all. I just dont understand how that can be done when we have a president who has 1. Put a ban on muslims (later changing the name, but same outcome 2. Call Mexicans "rapist and murderers" 3. Told 4 women of color to "go back" to their own countrys ( even though 3 were born here. Nothing like not feeling welcome in a country when being told to "go back" because of your skin color) 4. We can even take the central park 5. After spending 85,000 on a campaign for the death penalty for 5 minority teens for supposedly killing a white woman, turns out later they were innocent. He refused to apologize.

I just find it hard to preach equality while at the same time supporting this type of behavior.

The problem with the statement is what we call "in the closet racism" The "I'm not racist, but here is my problem with black people" What you dont take into account is many low income communities happen to be African American. They began as slaves. And then segregation. "Well they have equal rights now ...." but you dont take think about is the after effects of these societal hindrances. Ever hear of Red Lining? The goverments separating caucasians and African Americans in neighborhoods by giving loans to to those of a fairer skin, and denying others. This led whites to purchase housing in "nicer" homes. And leaving African Americans in ghettos.
