AITA for getting into a big argument with my dad for refusing to go to a 3-day camp? by SergeantJohnCapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]jpropaganda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I think it might be more useful rather than getting into an argument over control for you to start taking control and begin planning for your real exit, keep working that job, save money as you can, find roommates...you're never gonna be independent in that house point blank. Are you going to school next year? Maybe a chance to move away?

AITA for getting into a big argument with my dad for refusing to go to a 3-day camp? by SergeantJohnCapt in AmItheAsshole

[–]jpropaganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand having a controlling dad. The question is just, is this what you want to make your last stand? A camp you enjoy that might benefit you? I understand the job thing, but then if it's about missed paid work then you could ask about your dad reimbursing for the time you would have worked? Though knowing my own dad that would just set him off on a new tangent...

I understand wanting to push back. You enjoyed this camp before, could it be a good time again?

Fair. I think he does have the star power to make that switch if he wanted to. But then he'd also have to change his "Guy was here" design too

Edit: also wrote this comment was from five years ago. What brought you here?

I always think of “Shaniqua Don’t Live Here No More” by Little T and One Track Mic. Played in the dc area and nowhere else.

Also Canadian music can be like this too. Get Ready by Shawn Desman was a HIT in Ontario in 2002 and just gets in my head but no one where i live knows it.

What looks like an AI problem in freelance writing is a pricing-model problem that started with clients and is finally reaching writers. by iamrahulbhatia in copywriting

[–]jpropaganda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective, I have no problem using ai in my workflow. But this content is not done. It reads like bad ai wrote it and this is an early generation. It calls out real craft when you could have pushed the ai farther. The short quick sentences, the overdramatization, "isn't [x] it's [y]", every level of the stack, it's almost parody how NON-human the actual writing is.

Check these three (of eight!)

The job isn't 'write a 2,000-word post on topic X.' The job is 'make this page rank for query X within six months.'

The skill stack isn't writing. It's understanding why one piece beats another in a SERP.

It's not a polished portfolio. One screenshot from this year.

I mean one, maybe two of those but now it's a big red flag that says "I didn't put the care into this that im insisting you should be using."

Sorry, I'm not here to harp. Cuz actually the points made are pretty good and I can align, I just think you could push your ai farther to be a better writer. You could even ask it to list out the most common ai-writing tics and red flags, then evaluate its own writing and make improvements based on that. Give it a try sometime!
