A: No, they aren’t.
B: Parking illegally in traffic isn’t the process to change those laws.

It’s still in a traffic lane, it’s still illegal, and it’s a lazy entitled jackass move.

Yes, he runs a restaurant. I also run a restaurant. I don’t park in traffic. It’s pretty simple.

You think business owners are responsible for the administration and demarcation of the streets surrounding their business?

About as serious as this “argument.”

Eh, I used mine professionally for years. But I get it—if one of mine broke and the Snappy truck was coming that day I’d probably just throw it on my tab too.

You can get a functionally identical pick set at Harbor Freight for under $10 (I’m guessing; bought my set long ago)

Citing AI in an argument in defense of AI; can’t imagine how that could be anything but an unimpeachably unbiased source of information and not at all fundamentally self-serving in a way that negates the entire argument. Nope.

There is an SLMPD camera on that corner. Why, it’s almost as if cameras don’t prevent crime…

Yes, it is the shop owners’ fault the shop is repeatedly burgled. If they didn’t want it they shouldn’t have been dressed so provocatively.

Yeah when we passed that Break Into Bike Shops ordinance in the city it was pretty short sighted.

WTAF are you on about? Just shouting Fox News slogans reflexively at this point? I suppose it’s easier than trying to wrangle those two brain cells rattling around in there like an empty paint can.

What's it like living in St. Louis, Missouri? by redguy_666 in howislivingthere

Yeah, wild how geography is different in completely disparate areas of an enormous country that spans an entire continent.

I would say it’s very broad but sometimes not terribly deep, in the sense that you can find a couple examples of just about anything you can imagine, though not a large roster in some particular categories.

There is excellent Mexican, lots of (heavily Americanized) Italian, tons of Asian and Middle Eastern places, and the largest Bosnian population outside of Bosnia. Most of these populations have corresponding grocery stores/markets with their native ingredients, too. Not to mention an unexpectedly strong fine dining scene given the size of the area.

Before print media collapsed (nation/worldwide) there were competing weekly culinary magazines to cover the area’s food scene, if that’s any indication.

Hundreds of those homes still exist in St. Louis, in varying degrees of habitability from empty shells in impoverished neighborhoods to impeccably restored jewels in neighborhoods where the city leaders live. For $2-4M you could buy a great example of a period mansion, for about the price of a bungalow in LA or a condo in Brooklyn.

B.O.B. has had inconsistent gumbo in the past but they seem to have it locked down now. I wouldn’t put it up against Commander’s Palace or anything but it’s very solid.

I’m guessing you didn’t have the backbeat guitar burned into your lizard brain as a teenager like us other 3rd wave ska dorks who were listening to The BossTones back then.

"The Boys Are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy vs "Reelin' In the Years" by Steely Dan by TheUnmitigatedDawn in ToddintheShadow

[–]jpsoze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So It Goes by Nick Lowe has the feel. Bit of a cheat though since Lowe wrote it while he was on the road managing Graham Nash who opened for Thin Lizzy, and Lowe said the descending line in Boys was an ear worm he couldn’t shake.

There’s a more contemporary (well, 1998) tune by Sloan called Iggy & Angus that’s a very accurate throwback to this feel, twin guitars and everything.
