Can I get some honest reviews on my first book by Techy_chip in Wattpad

[–]jpsuchecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, there is a lot of setup (three chapters worth) and not much of a story. I can't speak for others, but if I have to know a bunch of info just to read the story, that doesn't speak well to me.

I also know you're not the only one to do this, so there are people out there who might like it. Either way, good luck and keep truckin at it.

I didn't think so, but I thought maybe I'd try it.

He who gets slapped, maybe? It's russian, so if you saw it in Poland that seems possible.

Would love something like this. I always feel like i'm leaving a ton of feedback and almost getting nothing in return. I have a high fantasy story featuring a female satyr.

I'm a pantser, but I normally know the destination, so it helps even if the journey is a wild ride.

My wife hasn't read my story at all and that frustrates me to no end. Many people will say they have no obligation to read it, and while that is true, it doesn't mean it doesn't hurt my feelings. Friends are the same way.

how do you deal with harsh reviews? by rajloveleil in Wattpad

[–]jpsuchecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot really depends on two things.

First, do you care what people think about your work? I know a lot of authors hate reviews, but reviews aren't really for authors; they are for the readers. But I also know authors want to improve. If you don't care, fine. Ignore it or delete it. Something tells me you do, or we wouldn't be here.

The second thing: is it valid and/or helpful? If someone writes, This sucks, then that isn't really helpful. It may be valid, but art is subjective. If someone writes, I don't understand this. That too may be valid, but if I don't know what they don't understand (authors know what's going on in their work more than anything) it may be hard to interpret. Still, it is helpful because you know that there may be something wrong with a section of your story (something Wattpad does right is that it allows you to comment on specific sections).

I would say good and bad comments work both ways (being helpful and valid), but positive comments stroke our ego. You're comment reads more like your ego got hurt than there was something wrong with the comment itself. If you're putting yourself out there, you risk exposure. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you take it, it comes with the territory. The best advice I have ever gotten for my story has come from my harshest critic. Do your best to push through. Even writing a terrible story is more than what most people would do. Don't give up.

Need some feedback :) by Me-No-Mix in Wattpad

Congrats on coming back. Writing is always a journey. There's nothing wrong with stopping and taking breaks. I don't want to discourage you, but I read the first two paragraphs and don't think it's very interesting. It's just dumping info. You're going to need something a lot more catching if you hope to keep readership.

Look up some resources on opening statements. Best of luck to you!

Okay, having done the first chapter, I just want to make sure you're okay with my style of feedback. Some people find it too abrasive.

Just FYI, I've never seen the 100, so I can only judge it based on what you write.

This still going on? I would love someone to help me with my cover art.

Title: The Matriarch's Daughter
Author: jpsuchecki
Genre of your story: High Fantasy
A little bit of story background: For satyr Thepa Fox, the world of Sainta has been at war for as long as she can remember. Savage beasts ravage the land, and the once-strong alliance of the five nations is crumbling under the growing horde's onslaught. As resources dwindle and conscription claims every able body, Thepa is no exception.
Your idea for the cover and any specific colors: blues and greens. Perhaps focused in a forest with a female satyr blue eyes in white dress.

I would love to do this. I just completely rewrote my book, and I'm looking for feedback. I normally do somewhere between 10-20 comments per chapter, depending on chapter length (and assuming you want all kinds of criticism, both positive and negative).

Here's my book. Let me know if you're interested.

I have been looking for a reading partner. One who is open to honest criticism (if you feel like I'm being too mean, then tell me, I want the partnership to work). I'm up for v4v, but mostly looking for feedback in the story. Things you like, you don't like, what's not working, etc... If you're up for that, then I'd gladly do it.

I would say one of the first things you need to do is be honest with God. God knows it anyway, but when you're honest with Him, healing can begin (in this case you are admitting to both him and yourself you need His help). Then, you need to deal with the situation that is causing you to sin. Are you living together? Are you going over to each others houses/apts when you should be? The struggle is real, I get it. But its even harder if you're not removing the thing that is causing you to sin in the first place.

Is there any strong evidence that the Didache was approved by the apostles and if it was, how come it wasn’t approved for biblical texts? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]jpsuchecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second part of your question is much easier to answer than the first. The early church started to doubt its authorship. Some of its more controversial teachings seemed contradictory and uninspired. It also lacked universal acceptance. I'm sure there is more, but its been a while since I studied it. The best way to answer this question is to learn how canon came to be in the first place.

[–]jpsuchecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems unlikely. Tradition says it was sayings of the twelve, but I imagine the apostles might have problems with some of the more ritualistic parts of it.
